Museum: Landesmuseum Zurich
Located: Zurich, CH
Architect: Gustav Gull 1898, extension Christ & Gantenbein 2016

The Swiss National Museum in Zurich covers the history and culture of Switzerland. The austere 2016 addition is dramatic but I felt it made the flow of the museum a bit disjointed.

Many zoos and a few science museums have hosted traveling installations of animatronic dinosaurs, and I think a few have had prehistoric mammals as well. The only permanent animatronic exhibit I can think of seeing is not in a museum...it is in an indoor restaurant that rotates slowly while looking at several scenes of nature with moving fauna models. A boat ride also views the same scenes. It is more of an attraction than a display but it is executed with educational sincerity. The photos I have of it only show one of the scenes, which ironically has moving bison (what timing!):

Interesting. I would have though the technology was reliable and cheap enough now that more museums might incorporate it. But perhaps it is seen as too "Disney"?
