The bus #11 Waller now detour by Bayview Station instead of following Somerset,
but there is no stop at Bayview station. So what the point of this roundabout route?
(Same with bus #12 Blair passing by Bayview Station but not stopping there)

Possibly it will stop once they are done the bike lane work at Scott/Bayview Station Road?

Incredibly dumb routing though, a completely pointless jig up to Bayview that doesn't really serve people.

I really hope that once the western O-Train extension opens that the #11 will just do a straight run on Richmond-Wellington-Somerset without detours since there will be opportunities to transfer to the O-Train at New Orchard and Sherbourne.

Out-of-service OC Transpo bus gets stuck under shopping mall sign
Transit agency reviewing afternoon incident near Bayshore Shopping Centre

CBC News
Posted: Aug 13, 2025 6:04 PM EDT | Last Updated: August 13

An out-of-service OC Transpo bus got stuck under an overhead sign at Bayshore Shopping Centre on Wednesday afternoon.

The incident, confirmed by the transit agency, happened at about 3:40 p.m. According to OC Transpo, the bus made an incorrect turn into the mall's parking garage and "made contact" with an overhead sign.

There were no passengers onboard and no reported injuries.

The bus will be removed from the ramp, OC Transpo said. In the meantime, motorists are being asked to use alternate routes to access the garage.

OC Transpo said it's reviewing the incident against its standard operating procedures to better understand what happened.

Police later joined the scene.

I really wish it wasn't classist and insensitive and so forth to start the conversation about the impact that the use of buses as makeshift shelter is having on bus transit in the urban core.

Is it classist or insensitive? Torontonians probably don’t think so since TTC safety (especially in downtown core) has become highly problematic.

Whatever it is, at some point soon, someone needs to start openly talking about it, because there are several bus routes that are getting difficult to ride, particularly after dark.

7 Easy Wins: How OC Transpo Could Improve the O-Train Right Now

Ottawa’s O-Train is essential for thousands of riders every day — but it could be so much better. In this video, we look at 7 easy wins OC Transpo could make right now that would quickly improve the rider experience: equal operating hours, clearer communication, more frequent trains, and more.

We all know what the right thing to do is..openly talk and discuss. But because most people, especially those in position of authority, now place feelings over reality, we know exactly how it's going to end.

I'm not sure what that means, but I don't think it's a great thing for transit when you have paying passengers racing to get off a bus, retching and gagging, or the entire rear section of an artic that is unusable by anyone other than the poor soul stretched out on the rear bench.

Some good points here….

I would also add that as a visually impaired individual, I prefer the electronic signs at line 2 stations { white lettering in the black background } to the amber lettering in the line station screens,

Cleanliness at of transpo bus stops and Transitway bus stops is still far below par. Billing bridge stop 2A smells like a urinal…. I have raised this with OC Transpo but nothing yet.

Am I on Guatemalan Insanity Peppers, or is OC Transpo next-bus data even more useless than usual this summer?

Any examples?

I have some connection to the folks to work on this. The system has improved but certainly there are some known issues that are being worked on.

Are you using Transit app to get the data or another source?

I've been using Google maps, and I've found the data to be really unreliable. The data will show a bus is going to be 5 minutes late, and then flip to 3 minutes early at the last minute. It seems that the closer it gets to bus time, the less useful the data is.

I also find there are still a lot of trips without GPS data available.

I think the latter issue might be a Google Maps issue. I very rarely see trips without real-time in Transit app.

For the first issue- do you see this on particular routes? The predictions are based on the route's scheduled runtime. If the runtime is off for a particular route, it would affect the predictions. That's why I prefer to always use a tool like Transit that shows the location of the bus in addition to the predictions.

Friday evening showed a lack of maintenance and a continuing poor process for event ticket holders, specifically at Greenboro. It shouldn't take several minutes to get through the fare gates.

There was 13 of us, and the current process requires each of us to get a day pass from a live staff member online at the ticket machine. We couldn't get more than 6 tickets at a time so it was 3 processes to get the 13 tickets. Then when we got to the fare gates, none of the 4 ticket readers could reliably read the tickets. Only one worked at all and only after several attempts. We ended having to hold the gate open for the rest of us to get through.

The next bus sign at the entrance at Greenboro was not working. It hasn't been working for weeks, and the info at the platform was inaccurate. The only remaining regular bus (98) had a cancelled trip (again). How do people deal with such irregular service?

I also noted that Route 105 was added to the stop sign as a 'frequent' route but the schedule confirms that the frequency is half hourly. Is that our new definition of frequent?

I also checked the new Line 2 and 4 schedules. I thought they were going to add early morning trips. As I saw it, if you are coming from downtown, the earliest arrival at the airport is about 6:40 am. Not workable for most morning flights.

The city has deprioritized transit to make it unusable for most people.

We will see if transit works to get me to Via rail station tomorrow.

I am in Montreal right now for a few days of holiday and I have riding the Metro and REM to get around.

I cannot believe the difference when comparing to our O-Train lines. The O-Train is so much slower. All Montreal trains can take curves faster. The acceleration and deceleration at stations is so much more noticeable. The station dwell times are much shorter. Crossing the Champlain bridge especially when the bridge is busy but not backed up, the REM trains are generally crossing faster than regular traffic.

Why did our experts and politicians not deliver rail that moves efficiently? It boggles my mind how we spent this amount of money with an exclusive right of way and ended up with a second rate system with no apparent way to fix it.

^ Did you just forget that the REM was out of service for a long time? That thing is nearly as unreliable as O-Train.
(As for the speed, maybe O-Train can go faster, I suppose.)

If we learn all of our lessons from Montreal, that includes the crumbling stations, right?

It was closed to prepare for the opening of the new extensions to the north and west . Sound familiar? We have had many closures in Ottawa for the very same reason. To thank Montrealers for their patience, service has been free on REM for 2 weeks, not just a weekend.
