Yup, NYC is a giant with no head. Not only destroy three classic buildings in which the Bancroft building should have been landmarked the developer HFZ Capital Group who tore down the structures defaulted on the project.
Great job City & landmarks commission, hope the payoff was worth it.

ps - Lets hope KPF does better than BIG's monstrosity which blocked the ESB. View sheds?!

I wouldn't be surprised if it ended up as an office tower. That is still the likely highest and best use.

It looks like they still haven't demolished the junky little buildings on 30th Street that HFZ had acquired before Vanbarton foreclosed.
