Denscity strikes again... every time there is something notesworthy (95% of the time negative) outside of BC, he rejoices.

At least for here, this fire season is the least active in at least 10 years in the province despite the warmth. So keep digging.

And I've seen lots of air quality statements for Montreal this year due to smoke not just the usual smog alerts.

Pure insanity all across the board. Nobody rejoices for these things. I'm proud of our fire fighters helping out across the country, and in return seeing help pour into Halifax currently. It's unfortunately becoming an ever common reality we must face, and we're all better off helping each other out.


To put it in perspective, the fire q12 posted above is roughly a 15 minute drive to the downtown core. Lots of residential, commercial, and office directly next to it. Lots of tension and fear currently with the severe drought conditions we've been facing - grass and trees are all turning brown, marshlands/lakes/drivers drying up, produce failing. My colleagues all cheered watching 4-5 water bombers take off from Fredericton on flightradar24 within an hour of this fire starting heading our way. So much love for our neighbours and brothers.

I've linked a crude drawing pointing out just how close this is to the city. The photo he posted was taken at the 102/Washmill Rd. underpass. A newly constructed hospital/outpatient facility had to get evacuated, along will numerous residential/commercial buildings.

The couple of air quality days were due to forest fires out west. Nothing to do with us. Simply being the victim there.

35C with a humidex of 40 and sunny. Another scorcher and another day that's relatively dry with a dewpoint below 18C.
It's 30C at the moment still (11PM).

Low of 22C (humidex of 26).

The warmspot was Lytton, BC at 39.8C

Warmest low was Point Pelee, ON at 25.3C. That could actually tie the highest low this year if it holds.

Historic day today.
PEI with a new provincial all-time record and all-time humidex (46.8). Newfoundland new all-time high for the island (however, it's not an all-time high for the province)
