Looks like PAL has received a government grant subsidy for 3 years to restore regional Maritime air service out of YHZ to YQM, YFC, YYG & YQY.

I can't see this working without PAL having a full-blown codeshare with someone out of YHZ. Moncton is so close to Fredericton, Charlottetown/PEI & Halifax that the only bit of O&D YQM-YHZ would generate would be to YQY.

I think you may be misreading the numbers

Vancouver totals their intl' (transborder plus pure intl) whereas what nofly did not.

Full international (including transborder) YUL is 1.4 million for June and YVR is 1.2M for June, so Montreal is still bigger.

Funny he still always references the 2 biggest intl gateways when the difference between 1 and 2 is huge and 2 and 3 is tiny, but that's his prerogative.

Not really an eastern bias, he's just repping and boosting his hometown (which happens to be out east). We all do it, just some more than others.

Montreal and Toronto ain't the east. From Moncton, it's a two day drive to the west to get to Toronto. From St. John's, it requires four travel days.

Toronto is the middle............

Alberta west has always called Toronto Eastern Canada but we seem to have lost the Central Canada moniker for Ontario Quebec which was more accurate.

We certainly like to lump lol. A chunk of Quebec is east of the Maritime provinces and another chunk north of parts of the three territories and parts of 7/10 provinces are north of a sliver of Nunavut. Similarly there’s a not insignificant chunk of Ontario that is west of Manitoba. But sine these are sparsely populated areas of each jurisdiction we lump lol.

Flight to to SFO was full today, as were the neighbouring flights to FLL and wherever the one on the other side of us was going. Customs line was about 20 minutes, although they sent us up to special services because my wife had a knee brace on. Flight itself was fine, friendly crew. Now if Porter can manage to find my missing suitcase and get it here by Monday morning, that would be awesome lol. Not that I’m a frequent flier or anything but I managed to make it to 56 years old before ever having that happen.

The NRC bird based at YOW is the only other Convair still flying in Canada and they too are rumoured to be looking for a replacement.

Repping our hometowns is why we have the Canada section

Speaking of repping hometowns, here's YYC latest numbers. Up in all categories. Transborder is up, but it's not due to Calgary's not being patriotic enough. Passengers originating from Calgary to the US is down from last year, but passengers from the US destined to Calgary is up. Also more connecting traffic as WS has cancelled some US routes from other cities.

I've been to Hope. It looked like a nice place to live. Is it as expensive as elsewhere in the lower mainland? It's pretty distant from Vancouver proper.......

Ha really. Where the Left most province meets the Right most province.
Hope is quite a bit more affordable than Metro Vancouver and even Chilliwack.
