I think it looks great... also happy it's over 300 metres.

Not sure I'd call this hideous, and I can easily name a dozen or more towers I would consider less attractive. Here are a few that come to mind.

The St Regis in Chicago IMO looks terribel and doesn't do the Chicago skyline any justice.

Sixth and Guadeloupe Austin, a bit like Edomonton's Stantec Tower, just big and glassy with no real architectural flare.

Considering that it's well under construction, I'm glad to hear there are people who enjoy it.

Not sure anyone is enjoying it just yet (except possible condo owners waiting to move in). Currently, it's flying under the radar due to flashier developments in higher-traffic locations. As soon as this punches above most of its surroundings, it will gather more attention.

Also, it's way too soon for me to have a real opinion on this tower.

Well yeah obviously I just meant that people enjoy the design presented in the rendering. The building isn't far enough along to even discern much of the actual tower aesthetics.

And it is still possible that it could turn out better than the rendering, but usually renderings err on the side of being overly flattering / optimistic.

Except in this case, the renderings were kind of vague, and even the website doesn't seem to show what they are currently building.

At least the first building to reach supertall height is pretty attractive despite all its other issues.

This actually covers not only the competition between Sky and The One, but also FCP and CN as they relate to the quest for height.

Looks so much like one of the dozens of renderings that Sam (RIP) cranked out.

I actually thought the first pic was just a render. It's nice when the finished product looks as good as the renders did for sales.

A supertall student dorm that doesn't try vs one that does. There's many ugly, themed supertalls going up right now across the globe. Imagine a Toronto Aeternitas Tower instead

Awesome cladding!

This tower going up isn't the supertall. It's "only" 263 metres...

Ok, now I'm excited about this project again. I always knew it would turn out nice, but until seeing this cladding, it was hard to picture. These two towers will 100% be icons for the city.

I hope Frank stays in good health and is able to see both built and occupied. He will be 100 if both Towers are completed in the next 4 years.

Yeah, sadly he will be lucky to be alive for the completion of the first tower forget about the other one. With market conditions, who knows when the second tower will be finished. Could be 10+ years away depending on the condo market health.

While the second tower is the supertall, the one under construction now isn't no slouch either. It will soar 863 feet high (higher than any building in Canada outside of Toronto).

Yeah, can't expect better from the cladding. The very best in shoebox towers. Hopefully, when or if the second one goes up it will represent actual luxury urban living with a complete redesign of the interior.
