My photos from yesterday. Building is now topped out and the tallest in Texas.

^ It might need to reach the top of the slanted roof to surpass 600 Travis Street, though I realize these drawings aren't always 100% accurate:

BTW the final height seems to be no longer 1,034 ft, but around 1,025 ft. CTBUH even says 1,021 ft.

It's currently 1,025, but the white roof still needs to go on... so, however tall that is will add onto the height. The 1,021 was the original height.

You are correct, the tallest beam of the structure is in place, and will be covered by the roof adding a little more height. The SE corner as per the render at the site, will be sloped up a bit higher than the other 4 corners of the building.

These renderings show a better look at the slopes of the building. https://forum.newyorkyimby.com/t/austin-waterline-98-red-river-1-031-ft-73-floors/17648

Never thought I'd see the day when Austin was building taller than Houston and Dallas.

The final height is 1034’. This issue has been discussed ad nauseum on the Austin Waterline thread.

^ I recommend looking up the many news articles that came out within the past 3 days. All of the half dozen or so that I read stated 1,025 ft as the "full height" or "maximum height". The height discussions on this thread took place a while back, whereas these articles are only 2 to 3 days old and therefore might have more up-to-date information.

I recommend recognizing that local news is often a dumpster-bin fire of poorly vetted information.

I recommend not relying on news articles for exact heights of buildings. The handout or whatever above is a great example. It shows 6xGuadalupe at 840’ which is way off. One news outlet probably saw that showing the height and everyone (gullible like you) else went with it. They could also be rounding the number since most people (except us) don’t care about 9 feet. Furthermore there was discussion on Austin’s Waterline thread “only 2 to 3 days old” about the height. So basically everything you typed is wrong.

That “officially tallest in TX” graphic is not representative of the actual ranks of tallest buildings in the state except for Waterline and Chase. Just in case anyone takes that list literally.

Yup. The Sixth & Guadalupe tower is 874', not 840'. And there are several other towers taller than the 710' Republic Tower.

And Wells Fargo Plaza is 992' and Transco (Williams) Tower is 901'.

Calm down, folks! I was merely raising the *possibility* that the final height had changed, which should have been clear from the uncertain/tentative words I used, namely "might" and "seems".

The news outlets likely got the 1,025 figure from Waterline's own site:

https://waterlineaustin.com/overview/

Considering that's the official site, and that the building's Wikipedia article also says 1,025 ft, we shouldn't blame journalists for trusting that figure.

That graphic is from Lincoln which had a hand in developing 6th and Guad, The Republic and Waterline.
1025' maybe the height from street level.
Austin sub forum has a gang of nerds that study official drawings and derive the heights from these.
Top 5
Waterline-1034'
6th and Guad-874'
The Republic-710'
Independant-694'
Austonian-683'
Top 4 have had discrepancies with height on the interwebs over time.

Kinda but 1K ain't what it used to be, I'd expect taller from Texas and hopefully one of those 100 floor proposals gets built next.
