Why was my threads moved to general photography when they are my pictures of towns/cities in USA? I did not break any rules I don't see yall moving anybody elses threads. This seems a lil unfair if you ask me

This was not a punishment, these were moved because they were miscategorized under the "My City Photos" thread. Per the posting guidelines for that thread:

"Photo threads that don't have an urban theme should be posted in General Photography, even if those photos were taken by the thread starter."

Suburbs are techinally part of an urban area. Suburbs are regularly discussed in City Discussions subforum, and project from suburbs are included in the Skyscraper & Highrise Construction and Proposed subforums. Suburbs are also included in the SSP database.

Non urban photography would be stuff like landscape, macro, portraits, still life.

Per request, moving this thread and a few others from vetteking's back to My City photos mainly because General Photography gets almost no traffic and technically, these are photos of a city.

@ vetteking, your photos tours of random cities from a car are ok for this thread but threads like this, this or this belong in General Photography because they are not photos of a city, suburb, community or some development. So photos of food, specific buildings, events belong there, not here.

It's an interesting POV. How do most people experience a city in the post-war era? Through a car. In a place like Chicago, maybe you post photos of the city from inside an L Train. It's showing the experience of getting around the city. Put the audience in the shoes of a commuter. Maybe you can criticize all of the photos here being tilted and not properly resized to fit the screen, but I don't see what's wrong the concept.

I agree; vetteking's photo threads are experiential.

Many of the photos in my Los Angeles thread are also taken from a car, or are pics of food, or events, or buildings. Vetteking is showing his world, like I'm showing mine.

Vette at least took the time to take pictures and then upload them here for everyone to enjoy or hate. Who the fuck cares about suburban vs. urban expect some jackass named sooperpaz who calls people fat and lazy while sitting at a computer being fat and lazy. Sooperpaz did what he thought was best. Suburban being "not urban" rather than "less urban" is a very common misconception here, so he's not alone alone in that. It's an honest mistake, and in the end he made it right again.

I think thread like this makes us appreciate truly urban place even more. Even when you go to a historic downtown, and you see a lot of it has been demolished for parking lots and garages, threads like this make us realize how the lines are blurred.

You guys know I post a lot of photos from the suburbs too. Suburbanization is something that can't be ignored if you try to discuss urbanism and promote urbanism. Urbanization of the suburbs vs. suburbanization of the inner city is also an interesting contrast. It is a complex subject and it is important to look at it from all sides.

I must say, my photos have gotten hostile reaction at Urban Toronto, but SSP has been much more accepting. This thread just an isolated incident. Again, I think the problem with the photos are more technical: the horizon tilted and the JPEGs not resized properly, otherwise I think people would not have such problem with it.
