It seems as though demolition of the ITC has come to a standstill. That makes me nervous. Does anybody know anything?

Why would that make you nervous? It’s a timely process.

I guess. But this isn’t stalled. This is being taken down through a process and because of its age and the asbestos, the process is very time consuming.

So, as a somewhat outside observer (I'm in Boston and only see what I see online), does that mean they're doing the asbestos removal on the interior and away from view, then they'll dismantle the structure?

I've also heard on local sports radio that the arena portion may be state funded, but the rest would be up for debate/vote. Not sure what that is worth though.

They seem to be visibly tearing down the POS... I mean ITC... again. Can anyone in SA verify that? Thanks.

Yes! Verified. Passed through there the other day and the ITC is coming down slowly, but surely!!

I live across the street, and I always see movement, but they are going very slowly. Most likely for safety reasons.

I just saw an article that says the Spurs want the city to pay $500 million, though. Yeesh, that's a lot, worth it, but a lot.

It is a lot, but may not be so in net terms (see what I did there?) if they perform a legitimate cost-benefit analysis.

San Antonio Spurs launch $1 billion plan to develop new NBA arena

The Spurs revealed a $1 billion-plus plan, according to News 4 San Antonio, that will include building a new arena in downtown San Antonio, as well as a large development project that will target growth in the area.
