Tons of caternary work out in the west end. Looks close to complete from Moodie until Pinecrest. I wonder if they will send a train down the tracks this summer?

According to this, all track work is complete and the focus is on the catenary (as you can see). I am guessing there is also still work to do on the signalling and control systems. The track looks largely complete, but there are a lot of empty fixtures that no doubt need to be completed. It's interesting that it looks most completed at the western end, and less so as you move toward the existing line 1.

It'd be interesting to see an insider view (not rail fan videos of what the average joe can see) of the underground tunnels and stations to see where they are at. Hopefully with a push this summer it will be largely completed by later this year apart from landscaping.

In order to maintain the Transitway as long as possible, they started the rebuild of the Scott trench pretty late (Westboro Station closed in June 2022), so that's why it's less complete.

Honestly, I find Stage 2 West looks far more complete today, two years before opening, than Line 2 was two years before opening (when it was supposed to open).

That's a nice video showing how the track is largely complete now and they are getting started on the overhead wiring. I notice a lot of the control and signalling infrastructure is coming into place as well.

One concern I have - looking at Lincoln Fields, is that it still appears to be designed as a pure transfer station with no access to either the east or west (Lincoln Fields) neighbourhoods. I'm sure there'll be some way to get to it from Carling avenue, but the extra walking that adds always meant there were people crossing either the parkway or transitway unofficially to get to the station. One would hope they would correct that at some point, especially given that there are plans for transit oriented development on both sides. It seems silly having a major transit station nearby, and so little access to it for those that actually live near it.

It's a constant source of frustration for me how our LRT route selection, station locations, and station positioning and orientation make using the system worse, the closer you live to it.

Suburbanites? Bussed to the door, and picked up there again.

Great video! Super detailed look at the Kanata extension. I am glad to hear there is some consideration to phasing the expansion as Terry Fox would make a perfect terminus in the meantime given extensive connections to all of the local buses in Kanata.

The March/Eagleson station will be a big game changer in Kanata to allow for fully integrated transfers between the east/west LRT and north/south bus routes. I was riding my bike out along the line today and it looks like they have catenary wire running from both Moodie and Algonquin all the way to just before Lincoln Fields where they were actively putting them up. I'm assuming the tunnel portion probably will use solid bars, so most of the wire is already up. Looking forward to seeing test runs by the end of the year.

I think up until now the train sets have been in the maintenance/inspection building at Corkstown. Yesterday, though, I saw at least one in the storage building. Looking forward to seeing testing down this section soon!

One thing I don't hear much about is the supposed occasional platform for events at Wesley Clover Park. What will it be called and how will they schedule runs to it? It seems only long enough for a single set. I imagine they'll only do runs from Lincoln Fields and back. Line 3X?
