May was slightly above normal and June has been hot and dry all the way until 3 days ago.... so, it's been pretty active so far.

The current 3 to 5 day cool wet trend is what the doctor ordered for the BC interior.

35C with a humidex of 45 and sunny today. An sauna... it is so freaking hot. I love it.

Low of 22C (humidex of 29) this morning.

The warmspot was L'assomption, QC at 36.4C.

Warmest low was Wiarton, ON at 25.4C. Could be the new warmest low if it holds.

Egbert's low did not hold, official one ended up being 23.9. The highest official low ended up being Hamilton, ON at 25.3C. Still by far the warmest this year in Canada but it doesn't beat the last year's high of 25.4C (Downtown Montreal).

I will give you though that a four or five day heat wave can be fun if relief is in sight. Here in Japan I wont be experiencing a fresh morning again likely until October. For me that completely ruins the enjoyment of summer. I like heat, yes, but continually feeling sticky, sweaty, and nasty for months on end? Nope.

Also I think people move more for sun and to escape extreme cold than they do to feel high humidity and extreme heat. Also the fact that these migrations didn't really happen until air conditioning was invented shows that people don't actually like sitting around at 36 degrees with 90% humidity and going to sleep in heat. Moving to a tropical place to spend 80% of your time in air conditioned spaces will always be a bizarre to me.
Comes down to what you have grown accustomed to. However the humidity has a lot more benefit than the dryness. It moderates the temperature so you don't get extremes, it usually brings consistent rain so you don't have to worry about drought or forest fires, it is better on the skin (I do have sensitive skin so below a certain dewpoint level I always have to put moisturizer on. I never have to worry about that in the summer).

Also you are not a weather noobie you should know 36 degrees and 90% humidity is impossible. The highest dewpoint ever recorded was Dhahran, Saudi Arabia at 35C.

Tropical places have temperatures in the high 20's/low 30's and dewpoint around 22-23C. That's about 60% humidity. They don't experience EXTREME humidity.
Some might say sticky but for a lot of people perfect temperature and humidity wise.

Close enough. Still 30C with a juicy humidex of 39 at 11PM.

Despite that, a lot more people are out than when we had crappy weather.

Several cooling mist systems were installed and they were popular.

Dang.. so close

I used to work on the top floor of that Canada Cement company building.

I've only experienced those misting systems in places like Phoenix. Interesting that Montreal has them. Could sure use them again today. Yesterday I got into my car and it read 39 degrees (dropped to 35 once I got moving).

24C in Moncton at 9 AM (humidex 31), with hazy sunshine. They've lowered the predicted high today from 34C to 31C, but still predicting a humidex of 41, so it will be oppressive out.

Thunderstorms this evening. With all the energy and moisture in the atmosphere, it could be a noisy evening.

Not in Vancouver. Dry maybe, but it's been cool. Hoodie weather for sure.

Summer starts this weekend, though. I'll be heading out to Shuswap Lake to go houseboating. Stoked!

It was pretty quiet during the day in Montreal yesterday but people came out in the evening for St-Jean festivities. I was in Jarry Park and it started filling up around 7pm and then walked over to the neighbourhood fête nationale party in Villeray.

29 and sticky even at midnight!

Jealous of the heat out east (not the humidity though, you can keep that shit!), struggling to hit 20 here today.

Chilly couple of days to come for us. But tomorrow will be torture. I'm afraid to go to my office. They've decided to bite the bullet and buy everyone a portable A/C for their offices. We were hitting 28-34C inside already when it was low 20s outside.

The heat wave is ending now, a cold front just came through with a bunch of wind. We'll probably have a few rounds of thunderstorms tonight. Will still be hot and muggy, but a few degrees cooler.

Today's high was 32.9 with a humidex of 45.7 and low of 24.6. High dew point was 25.9, doesn't beat the 26.2 from Sunday.

Only 20 today. It was supposed to reach 22, but I'm not sure we'll get there. I WANT HEAT and we've had enough rain for a while.

For the rest of the week:
24 sun/cloud and risk of storms
24 sun/cloud
22 sun/cloud and showers
19 rain (Saturday, of course :/ )
23 sun/cloud
25 sun/cloud

The weather in Vancouver is very neutral now, about 22°C and partly cloudy with some possible rain forecast for the next two days, then warmer and sunny.

It’s always interesting seeing perception from stats.

Even with the very cool weather the last four days (though today is 25 in the Fraser Valley and the interior is ranging 26 to 29) coastal BC is still averaging about 0.5 degrees above normal and the interior about 1.5 degrees above normal for June.

I feel that people (myself included) tend to have goldfish style memories for weather, with the last five or so days having a disproportionally large weight on what an entire season or month “feels” like.

The first two weeks especially in BC this month we’re quite warm and above average, even on the coast. Obviously downtown Vancouver and areas directly near the sea water will feel cooler during early summer heat events (just like the lake affects in Ontario).
