The medallions and lower leg might be lit up from the RFQ. The crossbeam wasn't mentioned.

What's the point of your complaint? It's cool that they're putting art on the bridge.

The lower parts of the bridge piers can be seen clearly from New West neighbourhoods. I'm excited to see what they select!

from the project twitter June 17th:

Early this month, traffic shifted onto the new westbound Hwy 17 overpass over Old Yale Road in @CityofSurrey
People travelling under the overpass can see the #PattulloBridgeReplacement Project’s first Indigenous art installation along the northeast side of the new overpass.

Stó꞉lō bridge would be a good name, honestly would be easier to pronounce than Pattullo

That would be a good name, Stó꞉lō Crossing has a nice ring to it!

I'm not linking to Bob Mackin's blog but he got a government memo that said the Musqueam and Kwantlen will be bestowing a name on the new bridge in the down river Halkomelem dialect.

Now with the Old Yale Road overpass open, between the Pattullo Bridge and Tswwassen there is only a single set of traffic lights remaining at 80th street on the SFPR.

My OCD desperately wants them to upgrade that intersection ASAP to an interchange, making the SFPR a true freeway from the Pattullo to Tswwassen.

From the Pattullo to the #1 going east… now that is another story, far from being the free flow artery it should be.
You will be happy to know that the BC government has agreed with the Port of Vancouver that several traffic improvement projects, including the interchange conversion of the 80th street intersection, will be tied to Roberts Bank Terminal 2 project. I don't recall the specific document, but I came across this information from documents on the RB2 project page on the Port of Vancouver website.

Once that is complete the SFPR will be free flowing from Surrey to Tsawwassen

If you remember which document, please link it to me. I would love to read it!

Was just browsing their site quickly now and can only find the usual environmental and native stuff.

lots of new pics here >> https://www.instagram.com/p/DMafIjxRJtN/

looks like they are adding asphalt to some of the lanes already and they are getting pretty close to closing the gap now.

its pretty crazy to think that the last major road/transit infrastructure built in the lower mainland was the evergreen line built in 2016. Its going to be nearly a decade later for the pattullo to open...replacing 4 lanes with 4 lanes. Very embarrassing for the region considering the population growth over that same period. Previous governments at all levels failed miserably to address the growing needs of the region. The good news is that once the pattullo open we dont have to wait another 9 years for a major project...broadway skytrain opening in 2 years and langley skytrain in 4 years....those are much better timelines.

To be fair projects do seem to come in waves, we had the Evergreen Line, the Canada Line, the Port Mann Bridge, the Pitt River Bridge, and the Golden Ears Bridge all within a single stretch and together those were a major upgrade to our infrastructure. Prior to these projects our infrastructure was truly embarrassing. Now I would say our region is no longer the worst in the country relative to population size, that crown now belongs to Winnipeg.

Agree on the opening with four lanes, that's just the stupidity of our local civic politics though.

Time and time again, why do we continually need to explain that New Westminster does NOT have the capacity for more than the existing number of lanes.
