There was restaurant equipment being dropped off in the unit next to TD bank on Main. Perhaps there? But i haven't seen anything on this.

In Bathurst, construction has started next to the Kent Store. Speculation indicates that it will either be a restaurant or a retail plaza. The land was cleared pretty fast so construction on the building must be coming really quickly.

NEW BATTERY MATERIALS PLANT

Located in Belledune, this project (Positive Materials Inc.) estimated at $205 600 000 is in the planning stage. It is slated to begin in July 2026. A pre-feasibility study is proceeding, the process technology provider is selected, and front-end engineering design is planned for December 2025. Works concern the potential construction of a precursor cathode active material (pCAM) plant on a 250-acre parcel. The project scope involves erecting electrical substations, a water treatment facility, reagent and water pipelines, and approximately 20 structures; installing track and rail; and the procurement and setup of systems for handling raw materials, waste residue, products, and parts storage, dissolution, hydrogen capture and recycling, solution adjustment, purification, rinsing, dewatering, drying, screening, magnetic separation, and packaging. The facility is planned for an initial output of 30,000 tons of pCAM per year, with potential future enhancements to reach a capacity of 120,000 tons annually".

Richardson said the communities have been working with Positive Materials Inc. of B.C. for a couple of years, and he estimates a plant could lead to the creation of 220 to 240 jobs in Belledune.

I don't think the locals are going to be too welcoming. They have been very vocal against new industrial projects in the village.

Ardene has opened inside Bathurst Mall. This now makes way for the construction of No Frills.

I hear different, everyone is counting on this project to bring back good paying jobs in the area and be, somewhat of a beginning of the launch of the green energy hub project for the port.

The project has some steps done already and should be submitting a EIA soon to the government. The site is the old site of the petroleum export facility that was shot down by a crash of the oil prices and the recent, at the time, Lac Megantic tragedy.

They are also plaining to build rail spurs of the main spur to the site, meaning a railway traffic increase, and maybe it will warrant some investments on the Campbellton-Moncton segment that has been neglected over the years.

It is also phase one of a multi phase project that could see the quadrupling of the output of the initial phase.

You are probably referring to the Bennett protests, everyone was on board until they slipped that they might be burning radioactive contaminated soil. And also most of the opposition to the projects comes from people across the bay…..

This would be excellent news, especially for VIA Rail. I hear the Bathurst sub is so degraded that the Ocean is restricted to something like 40 km/hr or such on that segment.

Yes! It adds a considerable amount of time to the trip, Belledune is a bulk shipping facility, woodchips, wood pellets, road salt… there is about 20 + different materials that are shipped/received through the port and most of it is brought there via trucking, would be nice to see CN facilitating rail service if there would be higher frequency of cargo train on the segment. Example, Moncton could import road salt through Belledune and have it shipped straight to the railyard and then trucked a short distance to the depot.

Yes. I spoke to the owners and he said the royalties were not leaving him with much profit, so he organized to lease the space to this new restaurant instead. He also owns the aux bootlegger and kaffin coffee. Pita pit wasn't his cup of tea...it was making money tho.

Some Happenings in Bathurst. Work has started on the old Pet shop location at Bathurst Mall. What is rumors is a 2nd location of Flamo restaurant which recently opening in Edmundston. No Frills is deep into renovations at the former Ardene space. Food land closes this Saturday whats left is at 50%. Marise in the mall has packed up and left. They were struggling to find a manager. A large apartment project has started off Murray Avenue. Munro. Work has started at the vanier Irving to add a ANBL agency.

Digging has started on the Vanier Blvd project, around 40 appts in several buildings.

Also there is activity in Belledune on a piece of land Adjacent to the proposed site of positive materials plant, next to the Turgeon exit, looks like they are building a new road

The old Home Hardware in downtown Woodstock is being renovated into apartments (and I assume some commercial space).

They just took the siding off the front of the building, revealing the original brickwork and windows that haven't seen the light of day in decades. And the pictures I've seen look great. Great to see the old facade brought back to life. (Now if only they'd take the siding off the Greco building down the street....)

Looks quite nice overall and should be a big boost downtown, at least for living space.

Between that and the renovations going on in the old Capital Theatre, Downtown Woodstock is getting a lot of attention now, especially for living space. A coworker of mine is friends (or family; not sure which) of the person doing the Theatre reno and apparently it's a lot of work, but there's a lot of demand for the living space in general, a good sign for the town.

Now, if only some developers would start filling in the empty spaces that are pockmarking Main Street in recent years.

I learned that the road in Belledune is built for the unloading of windmill parts off trains to be taken to the port of Belledune for shipping.

Also a 6 story building has been planned downtown Edmundston, pictures available on the city’s website or Facebook page. Located at the corner of de l’eglise and Canada where the old tim’s used to be
