Currently 116C in Moncton at 10 AM, going up to 23C this afternoon. Nice and sunny!
This happens a couple times every year between mid June and mid July. It’s usually Inuvik that’s the hot spot when this occurs, but this area tends to get three to four streaks of hot weather a year. It’s a bizarre climate. Eight months of deep cold winter, three months of cool to mild spring and fall weather, and one month of real summer heat.
Last year my MIL came back from the beach with these excellent rock paintings. Excellent in terms of the detail, but they lacked colour. I guess someone left them out for others to appreciate. Not sure of the story. Maybe she should have left them there. There is also a quasi art gallery at the beach parking lot that is kind of like a collective of local and out of town artists. Wouldn't be surprised if one of them or their kids painted the rocks.
Anyway, it inspired me to make some fun ones with my kids and leave some at the beach and see what happens. Left six of them a week ago and the red/black and black/white lady bugs remained despite being well exposed. All five left on Saturday were gone by the next day. Left six more Sunday and will be curious to see if any last. Regardless, it's cool either way. As long as someone appreciates them. We have at least 60 of them on our porch at home and several more at the cottage.
All rocks are double spray sealed. So far very resistant to rain for the ones at home we've had outside for three almost three months. I want to see how the ones up north last after an entire winter.
Yesterday was a perfect day in Vancouver, you can see the last bit of snow is just disappearing from the top of Cypress Mountain (sadly more overcast today).
