BC Government developments have a number of requirements including union membership. The B.C. Construction Association argues the requirements have been a key reason for cost overruns. The government disagrees, saying the reasons for cost overruns are inflation and labour shortages, not its rules about unions. Some recent hospital projects are managed by the government, so fall under their requirements, like the Cowichan District Hospital project and the Nanaimo District Hospital replacement. St Paul's doesn't have the same requirements because Providence are the developer. It makes a big difference - if this was a government project, the workforce would all be in a union.

The New St Pauls is required to meet the City of Vancouver standards for some new hiring and procurement being local - there's a report on that here, but union membership, or pay, aren't part of that.

The webcam has been adjusted. Possibly the camera was upgraded, it would have been nice to have had this shot the entire project.

I rode past the south side of the project and wow she's beefy! There's a lot of bulk there.

The 2021 version had a different design for the entire facade, but the entrance with the poles has been on the New St Paul's website for a year or two.

The Emergency entrance (which is on the east side of the building) has a similar design
