That MB Inuit building will be filling a huge hole on St. Mary's, very close to where I live. Wedged b/w a Muffler shop and an weird industrial building. I had no idea we had so many Inuit in Winnipeg area. Love the design, hopefully enough space for the kids to play, it's a small site, thankfully a few schools / parks nearby.

those tennis / pickleball and basketball courts at Bonavista rec center will be extremely busy, the area has tons young families and a large number of 4-6 story apartments built or under construction. my elderly parents live across the street from this.

Well that's good to see! Three guys is already three times the number of workers typically at the Sutton hotel site.

710 Westminster Phase 2

Integra Building Systems is currently constructing a 6 storey, 61-unit apartment building on Westminister in Winnipeg.

Long wait times for a table at Shorty's are what will finally turn me NIMBY

Looks identical to the one beside it. Are they gonna knock down some of the adjoining houses as well?

How busy the proposed Bonavista Rec Center is for socials will depend on how much they charge to rent and how difficult they are to work with. If they build it as proposed the combo gym and fitness studio somewhere in the 500-800 licensed capacity. That will put it about equal in capacity to Dakota for a social if you combine both their spaces. There are not a lot of facilities in Winnipeg area that have that capacity and they are often booking 18+ months out for socials now. That said some, looking at you Bronx, are absolute nightmares on the rules they have for socials and are actively scaring away business.

100%. There are some venues that just aren't built for the numbers people are trying to sell for socials anymore. The Sinclair Community Centre often gets over sold and people lined up outside at 10PM trying to get in line.

The St. Petrus Hall on Inkster is massive and always booked.

I see this one mimicking that business if, as you said, they decide to combine capacities (can easily see them having one room for prizes, one room for the drinking/dancing)

That’s great to have a twin to the building on Maryland. Let’s get the one on Sherbrook going.

Super happy about this one. My work commute is down Maryland and the first phase of this building made such a difference for the urban feel of that corner and of the maryland strip. I always had my eye on the lots south of it (surface parking and some houses) and wondered when more development would happen there.

The sherbrooke/maryland village area is cool because it has two full streets parallel to eachother that have potential to be fully built up with mixed used buildings, plus the connector streets between the two. It's a different feel from the one-strip villages we have in many neighbourhoods.

Wow, the WFP stated that the new CancerCare building will cost $815m. They say they will use the Tobacco lawsuit settlement of $1b to build it

I also learned the Federal Govt will be building a new lab building next to the Virology lab on Arlington. It will contain level 2 and 3 labs. No timeline.
