I found this part of the article amusing.

"City manager Jeff Jorgenson said staff receive hundreds of emails from Cary and Sherry Tarasoff in a year. Those emails get answered “patiently and faithfully,” and that hundreds of work hours are put into answering those emails, Jorgenson said."

"Matthew Rosenberg’s most recent acclamations have landed him on Forbes ‘Small Giants’ list while INC. Magazine has named him one of the ‘Top 10 Designers Every Business Should Have On Their Radar.’ His mission is to resolve the inefficiencies of the design industry by expanding the scope of the architect. He continues to expand his services while still providing architecture, design, real estate development, branding, marketing, interior design, and product development all in support of healthier and higher level experiences.

Rosenberg has worked on theaters, museums, public arts developments, hotels, members clubs, multifamily buildings, creative offices, biotech labs, and luxury homes around the world – all ranging in size from 275 square feet up to 850,000 square feet. He has developed a variety of consumer products including prefabricated affordable mobile housing, antimicrobial mobile testing units for Covid-19, arthritis utensils, custom fragrances, a mobile tee-to-green golf experience, and zero-waste flatpack planters. In 2012 he started M-Rad Inc which was listed on Inc Magazines’ fastest-growing companies in both California and the United States in 2020.

Rosenberg grew up in Saskatoon, SK where he resided until he completed high school in 2000 from Aden Bowman Collegiate. He currently resides in Los Angeles, CA where he has worked on over 50 international projects since starting M-Rad.

He holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Studio Art (University of Saskatchewan), a Bachelor of Environmental Design in Architecture (Dalhousie University), and a Masters of Architecture (SCI-Arc) which he received alongside a Selected Thesis Award. He has also studied architecture at McGill University in Montreal and the Louvre in Paris."
Awesome to see Matt bringing some designs back to Saskatoon. I went to elementary school with him and I had stumbled upon him being an architect a little while back, which was very cool to see.

He had a couple good points embedded in his nonsense this time. Mostly to do with platform capacity, inefficient transfers, and contingency for large snowfall or incapacitated busses blocking the BRT-only lanes... but these two embody 'old man yells at cloud' and submit pages and pages of questions for many of the points on nearly every city council meeting. Everything to do with city-building, anyway. Lots of "BUT WHATABOUT!?!"

Guess there's one (or two) in every town.

Thanks for the pics of Hart Rd. Looks better than the renderings, and nice to have some affordable housing and colour in that neighbourhood.

Anyone know what this 'Queen Street Building' by Koopman Architecture might be? Could it be the long-awaited North Prairie loft building on the lot beside Shangri La? Or is it a concept for somewhere else on that street?

This one is also from the same architect, for a parking lot beside an existing residential building on Lenore:

With the tariff situation, it'll be interesting to see how many of these infill projects see the light of day.

This was an earlier condo proposal for the property on Queen St that now houses the 2-storey black brick offices of SGEU: https://www.google.ca/maps/@52.1365872,-..._ep=EgoyMDI1MDUyMS4wIKXMDSoASAFQAw%3D%3D

A couple of minor Broadway area updates:

Silverado Demolition is set up at the former Extra Foods site.

A shed has been plunked down at on the lot at the corner of 8th and Broadway. What that signifies I cannot say, but it's the first sign of activity on that site for quite some time.

Speaking of demolition, I drove by 1202 - 1204 College Drive yesterday and noticed the house at 1204 is gone and 1202 has its exterior finishes removed.

It begins!!

Excited to see this started on the Extra Foods location!
Does anyone have renderings of the new building? All I've found out is 14 stories, Commercial units on Main level, structured parking, and 124 units.

14 stories is taller than I expected for that development! Great to see those levels of density coming close to downtown. We just need some of these developments IN downtown now

Westcliff's website says:

One of our latest acquisitions is located at 906 Broadway, more famously known as the old Extra Foods on Broadway. We are working hard on the plans for this site which will include a mixed-use concept of commercial and residential uses.

Does anyone else feel they missed an opportunity to make a vibrant looking building for the new St. Frances Cree bilingual school on 7th and Grosvenor? Every time I drive by it it's just such a bland building that looks more like a jail than a school. It has a lot of architectural elements built into it, but everything just being light grey leaves it looking drab. I'm sure/I hope the inside will be more exciting, but given the Indigenous culture that includes so much colour, it would have been nice to see that integrated into the outside of the building more.
