Both companies from Alberta.

New information is coming to light about two separate trucking incidents that took place on Tuesday in Abbotsford and near Chilliwack.

1130 NewsRadio has learned the drivers of both trucks had provincial permits, which come with authorized routes that will help avoid any potential issues. 1130 has been told that both drivers ignored those instructions, and both ran into problems.

It’s always the same vintage of overpass where the strike happens. Literally the worst designed overpass in history. They weren’t built with room for future expansion either. Just awful

Both companies registered out of Alberta but operating out of the Fraser Valley and using Alberta licensed drivers (recent newcomers) who reside here. Prime Flatbed Ltd. appears to list their place as business as a house in a suburban neighborhood.

It's a stupid loophole.

Cordova will become two way between Richards and Gore on the 25th until late September to support the second year of the pedestrian only Water St pilot.

They mention a potential future expansion to the Powell Street Overpass.

If they're thinking of expanding it just 10 years after it opened then it seems like they didn't design it properly in the first place...

I think it's an expansion of the two way Cordova "to the Powell Street overpass" they aren't widening the actual overpass.

Converting Cordova Street to two-way traffic is expected to significantly improve vehicle circulation and access to the area during pedestrian zone days planned in Gastown. This change will also provide valuable insights into a potential future expansion to the Powell Street overpass.

That's how I read it. If that's the case it would have been better worded "as far as the Powell Street overpass"

Bill 15 passed today at the BC Legislature. Hopefully that will make it easier to get stuff built faster in this province...

I can’t think of many road infrastructure projects that haven’t been built “fast”. Once shovels have hit the ground, most projects don’t drag on and on. I would argue that most road infrastructure projects in the lower mainland are built too fast. I’d rather they take longer but are built to higher standards.

The Coquihalla highway was put together in an amazingly short time, IMHO. The bulk of the main road between Hope and Kamloops was completed in 3 years, and that was not a simple nor easy project. As I recall it came in on budget and the tolls paid for it in about 20 years and were then removed as promised.

Say what you want about the SoCreds, they sure did know how to build roads.

Well yes but I was specifically referring to the overall speed of the process even once construction is underway. It's very slow.

the SoCreds were the best in my opinion. WAC built the highways and infrastructure we needed (BC Hydro, BC Highways, BC Ferries, etc). and his son, Bill Bennett built SkyTrain, Coquihalla, 91 Connector, etc.

they built them quickly, and efficiently. i would love governments like WACs, Bills, again.

Which should absolutely be a thing... in about 30+ years when the new bus/HOV lanes finally approach capacity and we have enough room in the budget for both it and a SkyTrain at the same time.
