On the other hand, not sure what's going on in TW... they filed the schedule, opened reservation (with full fare only) about a week ago, then close reservation. The start date is fast approaching and reservation is still closed. Maybe something still need to be sorted out first?

Reservations appear to be open now on TW website, but it looks to be full-fare only. Also now there is a Canada - English option for the website.

Per Korean news sources TW faced some backlash in Korea when they opened reservations initially on May 12 but were displaying prices higher than Korean Air's ICN-YVR flight for each segment. They reversed course and closed/delayed the booking launch, which actually caused speculation that they were going to walk out on the YVR-ICN flight.

Yes & I notice that AC Air Canada cheapest booking option (Basic) fares for one way/ round trip tickets from Vancouver YVR - Seoul South Korea ICN prices starting to drop mid July on google flights search.

Looks like AC is kind of already preparing for Tway Air’s entry on the route whenever that is✅!

What you are saying is true as well, but both our points are not mutually exclusive. Both can be true at the same time.

Prices have gone up between 2019 and now, but external factors have influenced the price rise. It's also true that prices would be higher if you didn't have all that
competition to NRT or ICN or TPE.

One of the reasons why prices are so high is because of lack of competition from the Chinese carriers, due to limited access to Canada, further proving my point.

Seems bookable on their website too. Promising!

I thought they were pretty frame constrained, what changed? China weakness? US travel demand drop?

just out of interest, and for comparison

This is all about the USA, but I included the link if anyone wants tp take a further look. There are 27 new Transaltlantic routes beginning this month. // What I find interesting is that these are not all from JFK, ORD, and the big guys, but also, flights from IND, SAN, and similar-sized, "mid range," if you will - US departure cities. In addition, there are several never-before-included US cities, plus several brand new city pairs.
Perhaps inspirational for Vancouver, (though being in Canada might limit things , *{CTA, bilaterals and all that.} I'm chomping at the bit for YVR-FCO).

T’way has opened up all flights for reservation again. Looked like they were just tweaking their system
Discounted fares available after the peak summer period

Yes they did & looks like T’Way Air Seoul ICN- Vancouver YVR - ICN flights ✈️for (S25) season is loaded from July 12- October 25 with 4x weekly service Saturdays, Sundays, Tuesdays & Thursdays operated by the Airbus A330✅.

Winter season nothing loaded yet, but there’s still time for T’Way Air to do it as it gets closer, (if) the ICN- YVR route is going well for them✅.

Love it. Between this and Fiji's expansion in the last few years, that's yet more competition from OneWorld up against SA (Air Canada + Air NZ) on this route. Can only mean good things for prices.

Exactly this. People going to Japan pre-COVID could grab an el-Cheapo flight through numerous Chinese airports and Canadian & Japanese carriers were forced to compete.

Looks like Air Canada is pulling out of Nashville and Tampa from Vancouver for 2025/26 winter. I didn’t realize air Canada had intentions to operate there Nashville flights over the winter. I wonder if these routes will come back next summer? Maybe demand will pick up again?

Word is they were both meant to be summer seasonal, so this is just an adjustment that was all expected.

What is strange to me is that Orlando was summer seasonal. Wouldn't that be a better winter route? Orlando mid-summer is a big no thanks from me.

I guess it was inbound traffic into YVR?

That article is AI generated and completely false. You need to pick and chose your sources very carefully when it comes to online articles nowadays.

That AC pilot’s claims are just as false as that AI article.

He should stick to flying his planes. I don’t go around telling him how to fly his plane. So he should let us ATC do the controlling…

Yeah one look at the article, and they say YYC-AMS is a brand new summer seasonal route, YYZ-LGW on BA is a seasonal extension and a new Swiss service to YVR? LAS-CDG ending when it never had scheduled commercial flights on AF in the first place?

How much is the AC pilot’s employer paying out to passengers for missed connections, accommodation and meal vouchers due to Navcan’s issues? Maybe Navcan should be on the hook to the airlines for that.
