There's a new street that was put in a couple years ago running north from Huron between Clarke and VMP and there is now a foundation being poured at the north end of that street. Have no idea yet how big this will be or who is going in there (maybe speculative industrial space?)

I saw signs and some work going on at the future site of the Noor Gardens behind Home Depot at Wonderland and Southdale this week. This project first came up about 15 years ago and I was wondering if they were ever going to build it. The Muslim population in the region has grown quite a bit since then so maybe they finally are able to fund it.

Couple stories from years ago, not sure what current plans are.

This is a building for Givens Engineering. We are throwing up the building there in the beginning of may most likely

A question to those in the know. The Toys r Us in Argyle, I've been reading from fb comments that it's going to be a Princess Auto. Anyone have any information?

Work on the addition to St Anne Catholic elementary school on Huron St east of Highbury is finally wrapping up with the new building needing final touch up and the east side parking area needing paving. This relatively small building addition took a rather long time.

In other grocery news, the No-Frills slated for the retail plaza at Sarnia and Hyde Park Road is already merchandising their shelves. Very fast development.

A plethora of grocery options in this strip mall (from left to right, back stores: Mona Farms [Middle-Eastern groceries...there is a Mosque around the back of the plaza], No Frills, Giant Tiger, Dollar-Tree [which offers cheap grocery items)]:

This article hints at what is happening in many cases which is that land speculation is happening by "developers" who simply want the property rezoned in the hopes they can flip it for a higher price down the road. They have zero intentions of actually going ahead with a Site Plan or Building permit to actually build on the property.

That's why it's important to distinguish between zoning application unit numbers and actual site plan application and building permit application unit numbers for building target goals.

It would be nice to see the list of 31 projects they believe will actually move forward. Funny it includes Farhis proposal for the the tower on Richmond but does not mention Yorks massive project on King. I think Farhis proposal is actually from another developer out of Kitchener.

In its report, Colliers finds the city would need to add nearly 2,400 units annually to prevent housing need from getting worse, but estimates many new housing starts will consist of smaller bachelor and one-bedroom units, which could then free up larger units.

Finishing touches on the exterior of the new Strathroy Fire/EMS building happening now. Interior work also appears to be progressing well. This might be ready to open by the end of June.

3 years ago, the Medicom medical glove facility was announced in the industrial park on the east side of VMP north side of Bradley (where the Western and Fanshawe buildings are located). It's finally under construction. Looks to be about 3/4 of the footprint is framed up now.

I only just noticed the scale of this expansion last week. Cardiff, a family owned food co-packaging facility, only opened here in 2021 with about 50,000 sq ft, across the road from the Dr Oetker pizza plant. Almost immediately after opening, they embarked on an expansion to double their size. A while back, I noticed they were framing an expansion again, but this week I saw how massive it is.

Looks like a couple of truck loads of structural steel have now been delivered to this site.

Thanks, and sorry I missed this reply earlier. How big of a building will it be? Givens has really grown over the years. I used to deliver to them when they were on Firestone in a very small building they shared with another company.

From my knowledge the building will be 40,000 sq ft. That is a decent size and the height is pretty tall, it will be around 45ft in height which is a pretty big size. We will probably be putting it up at the end of the month due to the delay with the foundation.

A site-plan has been filed for a new LCBO store at the plaza at the southeast corner of Colonel Talbot and Southdale (where the NoFrills, Shoppers is).

There are no diagrams so I have no idea where exactly on the property they are building it.

I hope new LCBO stores are designed in mind for larger quantity beer selection. I've only seen the LCBO sell 30 small can packs of Bud and Michelin Ultra.

I still need to go to the beer store for other selections - which goes against the point of trying to get 2-4s sold elsewhere. If I buy 24 singles of a German beer I like at the LCBO, I should be able to get the 2-4 price like the Beer Store allows.
