Took my wife's Peruvian coworker, who is on a 1 year visa, fishing in the river again. Even the smallest of fish he is fascinated by. One of them is the round goby, which you are supposed to kill if you catch it as they are invasive.
Later on I went to the lakeshore and it appears that there is a fish serial killer on the loose. Maybe it's the shadowy coyote that crossed paths with.
Also stopped by the trail the prior week to feed birds and observe the waterfowl in the marsh.
Finally getting some consistent decent weather that you can rely on when it comes to outdoor plans.
8C and rainy. Today was one of those days were we had what I like to call an "Atlantic low". We get these about once or twice a year in spring or in fall. Usually the heaviest rain is to the east of us but we still have lighter rain throughout the day. It is also a very slow moving system so sometimes this can last 2 days. Very drastic contrast where you go a bit west and it's completely clear. The cloud line was a bit west of Ottawa this time.
Low of 6C this morning. Not much variation.
The warmspot was Thunder Bay, ON at 26.8C.
Warmest low was Winnipeg (The Forks), MB at 11.0C.
One of those painful days here where it's 3-4C and foggy downtown, but a short drive west it's easily triple that temperature. Farther west than usual today, you're basically looking at the northwest Avalon, but still...

Rain all day. The high will only be +9C this afternoon.
The QMJHL finals begin this afternoon at the Avenir Centre. Moncton vs Rimouski for the league championship. The Gilles Courteau Trophy is on the line. Both teams will be going to the Memorial Cup however. Rimouski has the bye as the host team for the Memorial Cup. Moncton therefore will also be in the tournament as the QMJHL representative. These two teams will be sick and tired of playing each other over the course of the next three weeks.
The game today is an 8,800 seat sellout. It will be a wild atmosphere.

I could smell it in my neighbourhood downtown.
It's overcast and about 14°C today in Vancouver, with some fog over the harbour & North shore area.

I also noticed the smell of smoke mid morning, from what I though was another illegal campfire on or near sunset beach.
Saw the "North Van seniors apartments" fire on the noon news but would have never put 2 and 2 together, until mcminsen posting, thanks for the insight.
19C and sunny this afternoon. High was achieved at 7PM because we were still under cloud cover from that Atlantic low until about 2PM. Thankfully, this is now in the past.

The warmspot was Estevan, SK at 32.9C. That is the new yearly high.
Warmest low was Pam Rocks and Entrance Island, BC at 12.3C.
8C and mostly cloudy in Moncton at 11 AM, going up to 11C this afternoon.
My lawn is probably ready for it's first trim of the season too, but, it is currently too wet to mow.
There was a deer in my backyard last night. A rare enough occurrence to be remarkable.
The Wildcats took game one yesterday by a score of 4-1. The Avenir Centre is truly a mini NHL arena. It felt like it too with a noisy full house, the TSN broadcast crew and our organist pumping up the crowd. Robert Irving spared no expense, providing all 8800 souls with white towels to wave, and there was fireworks exploding from the rafters after the final horn.
Game two is tonight. I have high hopes. Our midseason addition goalie (Rudy Guimond) is in net, and he has not lost a start in all 19 games he has played with the team. GO CATS GO!!!!!
If anyone is interested, game two will also be televised on TSN as well.
It's hard to tell from the pictures, but a yellow moss is taking over my lawn at incredible speed. I'd say about 1/4 of it is now yellow moss with sporadic blades of grass popping up through it. I hope it takes over, assuming it doesn't transform the soil being incapable of supporting any other plant life.
Also, it cooled down quickly just now, which I wasn't aware was forecast. So I made the mistake of checking...
