WS has now removed YVR-AUS and YWG-LAX. They also filed a modified June schedule.

I know we still haven't seen the full effects of the border/tariff reflected in traffic stats, so this may change going forward, but definitely surprised me.
Visa requirement on Mexican nationals was reinstated on February 29, 2024. AM quickly reduced frequency at all 3 Canadian stations thereafter.

Also, demand to Cuba has been trending downward in the last little while, and was down 30% in Q1 this year vs Q1 2024.

These factors (especially Cuba) also explain YUL’s lacklustre international performance so far this year as well.

Seems WS actually did a full summer sweep with its US cutbacks:

The extra YYC-SEA seems to be on Saturday, with 4 departures but I suspect this will get corrected.

The latest transborder cut includes AA reducing YUL-LGA to summer seasonal service: https://www.aeroroutes.com/eng/250505-aa2h25lga

New York LaGuardia – Montreal (Service suspended 02NOV25 – 20MAY25)
We’ll see if it actually returns next spring. Still operating this summer/early fall.

Spotter alert: the end of original mainline 319 ops is near. Until 12MAY25, the last original 120 seater FIN is scheduled to show up at YOW, YHZ, YUL & YYZ: https://www.aeroroutes.com/eng/250505-acmay25319

This could be it but it might also get extended.

TS are adding winter seasonal YUL-GDL (days 46) and starting YUL-MAD's season much earlier in 2026 in mid-February.

Nice to see AC and TS finally enter the GDL game. Flair was first into that market from Canada, but they will now have competition from YYZ. Similar story at CTG. TS had a monopoly on YUL/YYZ-CTG, until now.

TS is clearly trying to expand into unserved markets from YUL. LIM, RAK and VLC were good examples. You can now add GDL to that list. Another new destination this year for YUL. That makes it what, 8 new destinations starting this year, if I didn't miss any.

CVG, NAP, EDI, SCL, VLC, BDA, GUA and now GDL.

That now makes it 91 international destinations for YUL, not counting US destinations. Crazy, considering Canada+US destinations combined is ~67.

Do you perhaps know if AC or TS will be expanding in Africa this or next year? Last added city for AC that is still operating was seasonal ALG and for TS year-round RAK.

At the last AC investors report, I believe I saw YUL-TUN and the return of YUL-CAI.

Theres also YUL-RAK/DSS and YYZ-LOS, I believe it was.

YHU Montreal Metropolitan Airport

I can’t find any existing thread to check up on construction status or learn of any rumors of how Porter and Pascan will operate out of there and what routes they will offer. Does such a thread exist?

I also wonder if AC will add flights from YHU. With the current transborder cuts would be a good replacement.

AC has extended their agreement with Landline for the shuttles between YKF/YHM-YYZ.

I've noticed that the AC app (which will automatically set the closest airport to you as the origin) has changed recently to show me XDS (the Ottawa Train Station) rather than YOW. AF/KL operate shuttles from here to YUL for their flights. I wonder if AC is planning to do the same? I can't appear to actually find any valid itineraries today from XDS on AC.

I would hope PD and Pascan expand from the existing interline into a full-blown codeshare. As for YHU ops, PD will almost certainly offer YHU-YHZ/YTZ/YYZ/YYC/YEG/YVR. I know they've mentioned 10 destinations, so YYT, YYG, YQM, YFC, YWG are also likely eventually.

Anyone know what the construction status is or when it will open? Progress photos? Surprising I can’t find anything online about this, especially on this site.

TS has applied to the CTA for a licence to operate to Brazil and Guyana. Let’s see if anything materializes from this. If it does, it will most likely be for a W25 start.

YUL-GIG would sure be interesting, and TS would have no competition on it either.

ADM's / YUL's Q1 results: https://www.newswire.ca/news-releases/ad...-results-at-march-31-2025-855817506.html

Quote:
Passenger traffic at YUL totalled 4.9 million for the first quarter of 2025, down 2.0% compared with the same period of 2024. The domestic sector rose by 1.1% over the same period in 2024. The international and transborder sectors declined by 1.7% and 6.0%, respectively, compared with the first quarter of 2024.
I wonder what % of international's decline was Cuba?
