Can AmEx freaking sign the lease already? So sick of the unfinished skyline and site. I'm past caring about specific design, height, etc. I just want this tower done.

The fact that Larry withdrew his request for federal funding suggests to me that Amex isn't signing. I'd like for them to anchor 175 Park, but I suspect that, like Jane Street, they're staying at the WFC/Brookfield. (It will always be the WFC for me.)

What makes you say this? I wasn't sure if that was good news or bad news, maybe he was confident he would find a tenant which is why he withdrew.

I'd rather have 175 Park in the near future than this though, although I deeply hope both can happen someday (and 350 + whatever else).

I agree, a non-completed development 20+ years later is totally an embarrassment.

I am also ready for any design, including this one with the spire. Just finish the WTC complex finally.

This is just another horrendous fill-in rendering that will never get built just like the other half dozen... want to see Five World trade Center get built here soon. Silverstein needs to focus on that

5WTC was supposed to start this year or last IIRC.

Shockingly enough, it's not rising.

We spend a lot of money on wars, why not skyscrapers?

That request withdrawal was a couple of years ago, maybe before AMEX was on the scene. I think the newer rendering more than anything suggests AMEX may be out of the picture. But who knows. Nothing is certain until it is. Silverstein could revert back to the BIG design, which would be fine with me.

Always been 4WTC to be built after, then 3WTC. From what I remember, 2WTC had financial issues from the start and was to be built up to street level to house AC and vent equipment for the underground facilities and mall. Go back to page 27 - 45, brings back memories of the 2010 forum I used to visit prior to being a member lol.

Like 3 WTC, there was a plan to have the first few floors constructed as a "retail stump". There is a rendering of that too

This must be an encouraging sign. The links don't give access to the full article, but it said that lower Manhattan had its best leasing quarter since 2019.

Melikey!!

Imagine if Larry "Low End" Silverstein wasn't such a cheapskate and kept the 4 spires on WTC3.... Would have been a pretty cool and dynamic effect on the DT skyline.

Who decided to remove the spires from 3 WTC: Larry Silverstein or architect Richard Rogers?

"The building was conceived as part of the larger World Trade Center master plan, which the new design for 200 Greenwich will also respect. Rogers Stirk Harbour + Partners is designing 175 Greenwich, and the firm sent along the following statement:

The original intention of the masts on 3 WTC was that they would express the structure of the building as it stretched towards the sky. But as the design developed, it became clear that they did not achieve this objective, and did not contribute to the aesthetic impact or functioning of the building. Furthermore, when we reviewed 3 WTC in relation to the new design of 2 WTC, we realized the two buildings complemented each other and the Libeskind Master Plan best without the masts. Therefore, they are not included in the final design."

Lip service.

So much for complementing a design that was (thankfully) cancelled. The fact that it altered the design trajectory of WTC3 makes me DESPISE that horrendous BIG design even more. Talk about about a BIG monkey wrench... Sheesh!!

Hopefully they start building this tower before some of us pass away. It’s taking forever.

From that angle, it looks like the Burj Al Arab in Dubai.

Any city in the world would be going gaga over this tower.

This is a beautiful, compact skyscraper. It will be a worthy neighbor to 1,3,4 WTC.
