All I can think fo this morning is the Jamie Macoun hit on Hawerchuck that broke his ribs back in 1985 (I think?). Jets won the series but couldn't go any further.
Of course I have no idea if history will repeat itself. If Scheifele comes back this series, or any future series they might play, he'll just get targeted and beaten up again, or someone will target Connor's knees or some other goon tactics will injure the Jets out of the playoffs.
I don't know. I guess people like watching this junk, but personally i prefer watching skill players do their thing. IMO regular season hockey has enough hard checking to appeal to the fans who like watching other people in pain, the league doesn't need to turn their game into MMA on ice. BUT...the ratings don't lie, I guess. Watching guys get injured brings in the sponsorship $$, and that's what business is all about in the end.
Sorry...feeling kind of bitter this morning.
