Shark Club is owned by Northland Properties, so that is why it was going to anchor the Sandman Hotel but sounds like it has been replaced with their newest brand Tavern Collective.

I believe Shark Club at City Place is a franchise location owned by True Hospitality which is the franchisee for a bunch of Northland Properties Brands and led the expansion into the USA. True North must have their hands in the gaming centre though.

So wait I thought all casinos (other than Indigenous/FN owned ones) in Manitoba were run by MLCC? I didn't realize private businesses could run casinos.

It's definetley liquor and lotteries people operating the gaming centre day to day. Same as the casinos. It's exactly the same in that respect.

But TNSE runs/parterns/whatever with the Shark Club franchisee (I'm not sure what the exact set-up is with that part) and gets profits from the gaming centre. I assume in a similar manner as lounges and other businesses get profits from slot machines.

It'll be nice to get a shot of colour downtown! Winnipeg architecture is certainly in its white era haha.

True North Dental has now moved to the hydro tower. I believe its temporary as they will be moving into the west portage place building. Leaves Dollarama, shawarma place, and thai express as only operating businesses in the east building.

Hold on...the image above is not intended as a current design option for residential on PP...is it??? That looks like a concept that would have come up 30 years ago.

Accidentally posted to the questionnaire. Oof. If it could be removed that would be good. Oh boy.

$60 million in tax breaks and all we get is a red box?

I wish our burgeoning "private sector development almost entirely contingent on public sector grants" industry could at the very least match the architecture seen Nordic countries. I'm sure places like Nuuk, Greenland are also very contingent on public dollars to get stuff built, but their public realm architecture seems to be of a significantly higher quality.

You’re getting a half billion dollar redevelopment and two new towers.
