So I do not remember. Tunnel under PV Road, then a bridge down stream of the dam. Then a crossing/tunnel back across PV Road to LBL. Is that the plan?

The three way bridge is upstream of the dam (so on the lake side).

I know it's not finished yet, but I think that is about as ugly AF. Why do bridges in ATX always look like they were built using ill-fitting leftovers from other bridge projects?

I am trying to remember Where the above mentioned Tunnel is. If it is under Pleasant Valley Road there is no trail on the down stream side of LBL, and therefore another bridge across the Colorado River would be needed. Where is this tunnel that is already done?

I have to agree - bridge supports and structure are basic AF. Looks like any regular highway bridge in anywhere, TX. Something like the Pfluger bridge would've looked a lot nicer.

the tunnel is under PV. It connects the trail that runs along the west of PV to the one that runs to the north of Krieg field along the river. That then runs to the bridge they're finally fixing in Guerrero park (after the washout).

Yeah, this would be a connection to the Montopolis bike/pedestrian bridge and 183 shared use path which isn't bad for a highway.

I tend to agree. I am thankful for this bridge and happy to see it constructed but it is 100% utilitarian, like it was designed by TXDOT.

Oh come on, TXDOT has a lot of Style. They are renounced...unh...renowned for their elegant and advanced interchanges and highways and most of all the bridges! Just look at all the acclaim in the Art, Architectural and Engineering fields! TXDOT is decades ahead of the rest of the USA.

Wish we could have gotten something like the IH30 or IH20 bridge in Dallas across the Trinity. Or at the very bottom of the barrel least the IH35 bridge in Waco.

Yall, you’re not even going to be able to see the supports once the actual bridge struts go in. It’s going to look like the existing boardwalk.

^ Yeah, they've been talking about doing that for a while now. I'm unsure that a controlled-access highway is the answer as a lot of that essentially parallels 183A. I do think that an E-W loop from Jarrell to north of Liberty Hill is inevitable someday, and it very well may run across a portion of Ronald Reagan before it turns south. The other issue I have with this is that it would have essentially two N-S toll roads for ten miles or so. Yes, the access roads would be free, but that's just silly to me in general. Better to just do an overpass in a couple spots (1431 and 29 come to mind).

All said, here is the Wilco link for the Ronald Reagan corridor for those who geek out over such things (Okay, that's all of us...).

Other projects that happening (someday) in Wilco:
* 2243 (aka Leander Rd at I-35) will be a controlled-access highway from Hero Way at 183A to SW Bypass in Georgetown, at which point it will continue along SW Bypass, and then Sam Houston, all the way to 130. This will be a great E-W connector across the northern metro.

* Wilco Highway - a partial loop around the western part of the Williamson County suburbs.

A little off-topic, but the height of that flyover freaks me out... and, I'm sorry, TXDOT overpasses have to win the prize for ugliness. Why can't TX's overpasses look more like this?

Well....I know that was probably a rhetorical question, but, Design and Esthetics do not register here as much as the way it has always been done with the same hands in the pot. Making things nice for the long haul, for society, may cost a bit more and be socially unactable. The majority of the people in TX accept what is produced here.

I agree with you, however, the majority sees things differently.

Yeah, you're right - I certainly didn't mean to start any flame wars over so trivial a topic - if I offended anyone, I apologize. I grew up in Austin and used to visit my dad, in CA, and used to wonder the same thing, even back then. For whatever reason, it's always been a bugaboo, for me...
