I just read an article from Food & Wine Magazine that rated ABIA as having the 5th best Food and Drink of all US airports.

I was lucky enough to have my flight’s gate to be at the very end to take photos of the expansion on the west end

I noticed theyre doing something North of the parking garage

Anyone have info on the TUI Airways B789 that left AUS for MAN this afternoon? It arrived from BHX (Birmingham) yesterday around 7 p.m. or so.

From what I have heard, 117 UK military personnel on a military charter. Just stayed overnight. Source: people on facebook. one guy claiming to work at the airport.

Nice shots of the West Gates Expansion!

FYI, the site work being done north of the existing Blue Garage is to prepare for construction of the new Yellow Garage...

The West Gates Expansion will not create an immediate net increase to capacity since some BJT gates and South Terminal gates are yet to come offline for future work.

Similar story with the Yellow Garage as it reduced the Economy Parking capacity in the near-term and will generally absorb lost capacity when the Red Garage is demolished to make room for the expanded A/D Hall.

Here's the latest construction update, 4/25, for current and future projects. They're expanding the maintenance ramp which is something new.

I like to hear that the airport is already thinking about Concourse C, D, E and maybe F.

AUS' chief development officer spoke at a recent ULI event in Austin. He stated that the airport decided to utilize a "hub friendly" design for future expansions (similar in design to ATL and DEN). In doing so, they can plan for a future capacity of ~75-80 million passengers. The current expansion should be able to accommodate ~30-35 million passenger per year.

Austin (AUS) - Montreal-PET (YUL), Extended to all year service

Air Canada flew the route May to October starting in 2024. This was the first ever service on the route. The plan was to do the same this year, but Air Canada has now extended the route to all year for the first time. The route is flown by a mix of A220s and MAX aircraft.

The change is particularly notable because it goes against headlines reporting Canadian travel cratering, and a number of Canadian routes have been yanked in recent days. Yet, Air Canada is expanding this one significantly. Additionally, U.S. carriers just said in earnings calls that they are minimally impacted by anti-American sentiment in Canada because the bulk of their traffic is U.S. point of sale which has not been affected by the controversy. The situation is the opposite for Canadian carriers who typically over-perform with their own citizens.

Bottom line, Air Canada is not as pessimistic about the direction of travel following the Canadian federal election tomorrow, which is likely to cool tensions as rhetoric is reduced post-election.

Just took the Frankfurt > AUS flight yesterday on an A330-300. Very nice but only 60% full - albeit on a Monday.... Thank God I had Global Entry and carry on luggage - would have been about 45 minutes in line at US Customs.

Just curious whether you might be able to compare the occupancy rate in business class v/s economy/premium economy on your flight. 60% is a low number, but with the right passenger configuration, it could still be a profitable flight for the airline.

They rendered that out like 4 years ago during the master plan process. Still, that's not part of the current plan and would require another round of master planning and FAA approvals whenever we get there.

Does anyone still have that rendering? It's buried in one of the PDFS.
