The blue is ghastly. The project would be a lot more palatable if they'd stuck with a single colour for the towers. Of the 3 options, it should have been the light gray.

Yeah, it seems like it's actually going up RELATIVELY quickly compared to the first. Which is great, because I'm interested to see how the commercial does there.

Could people possibly be living there in 2026? It almost seems like it could be the case.

Thanks for the pics! The second round of renderings were better and I'm not sure why they commissioned them, just to go back to the brutal first idea. They're playing off, or mimicking, the blue from the Parktown. It's a usual Chinese strategy as to not upset the hood. This is not racist. It's how it goes. The height of this project is different than the usual conformity, though, as it was a requirement of purchase. And the grays suck, as winter is grey enough already. Their updated renders were much, much better. Oh well. The height is good and they're kind of tucked into the far North side of the skyline, so just giving some heft down the riverbank. I think the views will be great, and it's a convenient place to live. Best of luck to them.

...And to know that more than a thousand more people will be living DT makes me happy. Businesses and hood safety immediately benefit. Let's see who opens up shop here!

They've actually got 5 options as we can see now: 3 gray and 2 blue. And they've gone with ALL of them. Yikes! But they're paying for it, so we've got to suck it up.

The second render release was better. Enough said by me.

So, maybe I was wrong. This looks like an 80's mall going skyward. Ntl, the apartments will provide homes. I digress into a northern pond.

It's a shit development that hopefully doesn't implode upon its own cost cutting if it ever in fact gets its balls running.

I use to live in that neighborhood about 20 years ago.

Following a retro theme, I find they have gone to great length to adapt to the style and design of the neighborhood capturing elements and colors from the surrounding buildings.

Given most of the buildings in that area were from the 70s, 80s and early 90s. I think they achieved their goal.

That was their goal was it not?

I believe Baydo's goal was as many units as possible for the lowest price. Looks like they're on track for that goal, too.

When I first moved to Saskatoon in 2000, I rented in Boardwalk Regal Towers on 3rd ave. It was a 1970s building. Lots of room, Boardwalk did an ok job of making certain the apartment was "like new" when I moved in.

My impression is they do a good job of replacing carpets when they are warn and painting the walls. But it was clear it was never remodeled or upgraded to match modern style. I suspect a lot of the rental stock in downtown Saskatoon is like that.

She's not the best-quality building in the world. BUT, Baydo chose to build over 400 units in the city centre and I don't see any other developers currently taking that leap.

With 474 planned units, Chat GPT tells me that 800-1000 people could be living in the buildings, and therefore added to that block in the next few years. That's an extra 800+ people who need groceries, clothes, and places to eat/drink/study.

Sure, they could be prettier, but tell that to North Prairie, Remai, Meridian, and everyone else sitting on prime downtown land. If the demand is there, and if Baydo proves that, then maybe some of these old timers will finally invest in some nicer buildings in the area

Well said. Thats a nice increase in population for the area.

I'm guessing these towers will cater to a good number of university students being a walk or take a short bus ride to campus.

You need chatgpt to tell you 800-1000 people could live in 474 units?

Easier to pop the question in there than to look up average occupancy and do the math, yep. Especially when I already have it open most of the day at work to do menial things like that.

Chatgpt? You got this thing called a brain mate, works a hell lot better. Maybe give it a try someday ;-)

Deserved. I'll try harder, guys.

Back to Baydo-- the south tower is rising way faster than the north did. I think the core has been raised to around floor 16-17, and is starting to pop up on the skyline.

Instead of using AI, my brain tells me that this one should top out by the end of the summer/early fall at this rate (at least the core). Unless they stop work randomly for weeks and months at a time, like they did with the other one.

Interesting that they're not using that luffing crane for this one.
