Is Rutland still considered to be on 'the wrong side of the tracks'?

There are some sketchy areas of Rutland that still exist (I hear that Hein Rd. is still rough), but it's gentrified a lot. It's hard to have bad neighbourhoods when the average home price is $750,000.

No, it's not. I saw it on a Kelowna Facebook group.

That Saint Catherine Street pic is amazing. Can't help but notice that there's like 5 cars in the closest three blocks and maybe 100 pedestrians, yet most the space is for vehicular travel or parking. Makes me think how cool would it be if the city fully pedestrianized this corridor through downtown. Could be the Amagertorv of Montreal!

Actually, most of the space is for pedestrians. The vehicular lane is the narrow one between the black lines. Cars that are parked on the side are actually on the sidewalk and should not be there. They are tolerated for quick delivery or pick-up.

Halifax is getting some beefy, hulking infill projects. Instead of 5 over 1s they look like 9 and 10 over 1 buildings.

The Fairmont Royal York pics are pretty epic trophy shots, although a lighter touch on the photo editing would have been my preference.

Montreal has a perfect mix or jumble of building heights and masses, one of the most important characteristics in making a skyline interesting.

Lovely Hallifax pics as well. Now the photo quality of this Victoria real estate listing is much worse than the Halifax one, but sharing as it provides an interesting perspective from the north side of the Johnson Street bridge. Mermaid Wharf is the building shown, completed in 2000, love the rooftop terraces. The other two buildings were primarily built as Air BnB hotels with micro units. With the changes banning these units a lot of them have been selling for a loss lately.

^Agreed on the downtown Toronto images. It's a shame the Royal York is becoming less and less visible due to new buildings going up around it, but inevitable despite its size.

Hamilton, mid-April:

Has there been debate about fully removing cars? (aside from delivery vehicles)

During my first visit to the city (early 1990s) I recall the sidewalks being a lot narrower. My last one was about 4 years ago and there was a lot of construction on the street... I didn't walk much along it.

Victoria is near the top of my "must visit" list. Looks like the kind of place I'd love to just walk around all day.
