I've always thought that area is highly under devleoped being right next door to P&M. Was/is hoping maybe some transit infrastructure/TOD thing would spur some development in that area.

Did I properly understand on CTV WInnipeg News today that more HAF money is available for multi tenant residential? Or was that referencing that second batch recently?

There is more HAF money but it is based on yearly installments. I believe there is still about $75m left. This has been a worry with the possible change of Government. PP and the Conservatives have already stated that they will cancel the HAF program in favor of cutting the GST from new houses up to $1.3m.

So my 4 year old daughter was asking why the articulating concrete booms on trucks are always red. I didn't have an answer but was wondering if anyone this group know why?

General visibility for safety. Easy to notice red.

I think it has more to do with Granite Concrete being the largest concrete pump company in Winnipeg and their company colour is Red. Lots of other pump trucks have blue, orange, yellow or white booms.

I'm surprised to see an appeal by a number 10 architecture dude on the 915 McMillan project, seems a little ironic to me, considering their track record from strong urban development.

Kind of a weird, half-assed commitment to fund half the cost of a feasibility study on restoring Holy Trinity Church:

It's strange that such an historic landmark has basically been ignored by the major "givers" in town. The price tag of $7 million doesn't sound like too much in this day and age. Hopefully this will firm up a cost so the work can get funded and started.

I agree, $7 million is a pretty small price tag to save an important heritage building. I don't see the City funding this but hopefully the Province or a private donor will step in and save the building.

Hopefully the study says put up a residential tower on east side of the church like All Saints did on Broadway and Osborne. Integrate a multipurpose hall in there somewhere and hopefully that subsidizes the place.

On another note, it appears that some substantial renos/preservation is taking place at the old CP station on Higgins. The whole main floor has hoarding up with the windows boarded over as well. Good to see that place get some TLC. With a good scrub that place could really shine again.

Honestly, that whole stretch of Higgins from Main to Waterfront should be developed properly with how historic it is, so it integrates that whole area better. Doubt that would ever happen with Main Street project right there. Wasn't there an old hotel near by that the Royal Family would always stay at whenever visiting?
