interesting to note, 1 late in all directions has been removed for construction, I work P&M and I have not noticed any increase in commute time. So adding pedestrians crossing (in my opinion) will not cause any major delays

I come through P&M everyday at 3pm. I haven't noticed any change in times except when the first week the lane closures came in. I wonder what the "world will end" people think when they hear that.

I would guess the average age of the people that voted 'no' during Bowman's 2018 referendum was probably somewhere around 75 at the time, so they are likely a little more subdued these days.

All of the people that voted "No" also don't work, eat, live and play downtown. 90% of them never even commute downtown and think it's stabby stabby-ville.

I guess most of the people here don't really pay much attention. Going east bound the impacts of the current Portage and Main closures go back past Memorial and are definitely delaying transit times through downtown. That is also before the upcoming major route changes that will see more buses on Portage. East of Donald vehicles are easily losing 1-2 light cycles.

There will be less buses on Portage. My Transit contact confirmed this. There will be less buses, with more people on each bus.

Will they be paving the entire intersection as part of this project? I’ve been trying to find information on it, but there is none. The whole intersection has been awful for years.

With all the hoarding now taken down and sections of new sidewalk visible, it looks so much different. Carmageddon never happened. We'll see how things go once it opens up at end of June.

I'm a little surprised they didn't put up any bollards or anything, but maybe the Mayor was right, it's just an intersection.

They definitely have bollards in the major overall that is proposed. I wonder if they'll still get put up when that major work happens.

Imagine if they introduced scramble crossing. Would be pretty grand once everyone's back in office and more residential components get built + the new transit stop. It seems to work really well at a lot of the larger intersections in Montreal. But they also have waaay more people lol

yeah it appears the finishings of the sidewalks and street infrastructure are at par with Kenaston and Sterling Lyon and not where they should be for our prominent, urban and historic downtown crossroads. but what did we expect from gillingham anyway?
