has that third tower at SOCO topped out? today it looks like the box on top is done. Will further towers have more height or will they all be about the same?

There are four more towers to be built. The one under construction is 28 stories, with the completed ones being 28 and 32. The tallest will be 47.

There's more info here.

It's interesting. The prime real estate in the area is seeing less activity than the area North of Como.

Thanks for the photos.

I'd say a lot more units overall is getting build south of Como along North Road.
But it's great to see activities all over the area!

That is true. They're more concentrated for sure (taller towers/more units). I guess North of Como there are a lot more low rises.

I love the fact that the intersection will be more or less complete in the next few years.

Meanwhile Austin and North Road has many many years before we see some stability. On 3 corners everything is still up in the air (the Denny's corner, the carwash/gas station corner and even the Sushi California/strip mall corner). It's messing with the walkability.

Long term Lougheed is going to be great, but for now I'm looking forward to Como finishing up.

I dont understand what they will do with the houses, just sell them? or have they been divided up inside? they were three of the oldest houses in Coquitlam hence they were incorporated and saved.

They have floor plans for two of the houses on their site.

ah, there is another old house in the development going in across the street, that house seems like it will be for amenities.

Would they be part of a strata or separate from it?

Burquitlam Station
Annual Station Boardings:
2019 - 1,440,800
2022 - 1,124,700
2023 - 1,447,600

2023 already went above pre-pandemic ridership.
I am very exited to see numbers for 2024. And once more towers come online in 2025 - numbers should be even better!

5th busiest station on the Millennium Line after Commercial-Broadway, Lougheed Town Centre, Brentwood, and Coquitlam Central. 2nd Busiest after Brentwood for a station without another connecting train line is pretty impressive! I would expect Burquitlam is handling 2 million+ by the end of the decade and roughly on par with Brentwood's 2023 ridership.

TransLink's redevelopment at Coquitlam Central is back in the news, they've submitted its pre-application to the City of Coquitlam:

Quote:
This includes eight residential towers with 3,400 residential units and ground-level retail/restaurant space, and one mixed-use tower with a hotel and office space.

So that's three now for Translink's RED program? Arbutus+Broadway, Moodyville in North Van, and Coquitlam Central? I feel like there's a fourth I'm forgetting about.

They own one of the properties to be developed at Moody Centre Station, 26 storey tower from the initial concept plan. Also the redevelopment of Columbia Station in New West should eventually have some details released. Scott Road station's parking lots will also eventually be redeveloped. And then above some of the Broadway extension stations, and with any surplus property acquired during the SLS development. They've got a nice pipeline coming.

AFAIK the only other Broadway property Translink owns is 1409-1421 W Broadway, all the other sites (station and construction) were purchased or leased by the Province.

Right, yes. Does the ownership of the line and stations not transfer to Translink upon completion and the stations themselves are designed for development above for the most part?

I think they sold that to Shato Holdings (Toigo)

Well they expanded the role of the B.C. Transportation Financing Authority and the Transportation Act for more housing development so the province might directly take a role in the development of their sites.

In a few months, five towers will be ready to open up at about the same time or very close: The YMCA condo tower, Jinju, Highpoint, and the two towers at Farrow and Smith. That's an instant injection of a few thousand people into the area all at once.
