Did some digging and the
final height number is: 1,031'
Early on, we had elevations for both 1,022' and 1,031'--the latter was noted as the most recent height. Despite this, 1,022 was submitted to the city of Austin. Afterwards, we received a FAA filing for the taller height---this new FAA filing for the crane just before the final jump correlates with 1,031'.
I suspect they were pushing through the planning process quickly and/or didn't resubmit to avoid any delay from the city. Developers were trying to get their office space out of the ground to lure tenants fishing for space and to make the entire recipe work at the time (hotel/office/residential), they had to move quickly.
This will be the tallest building in the south until the Waldorf Astoria in Miami is complete.
