Maybe they are training crane operators so they don't drop them!

Lucky if it's this year.. 2026 seems more likely depending on where they are located.

Here's a photo of the academy which is located near some skybridge

Thanks! Would be nice to be able to sit at Timeout to wait for classes to end instead of at the current Mount Pleasant location.

Drone footage of the towers

The west facing balconies on the tallest tower seem to be installed but no new balcony pods.

There's a missing 3rd tall tower along Cambie on the north east corner. It was in the renderings. What happened to that?

The tallest building - a rental tower of something like 52 storeys - comes next yeah.

What would be the reason for building that tower in phase 2? Seems odd to not have included it in phase 1 since the rest of the site has been part of it.

Quadreal (and West Bank) were still revising the project, and submitting a new rezoning for the subsequent phases of construction, a year after work started on the current Phase 1, which commenced in 2019. They expanded the scope of the first phase, and closed the mall entirely when covid hit sales for the mall's retailers, so they were already committed to a significantly expanded program that must be costing north of three billion dollars.

The revised rezoning switched Tower 5 (the tallest) from strata to rental, and it will now have nearly 600 units, if built as revised. Overall the revised rezoning added nearly 800 more units (mostly rental), reduced the area of retail, and increased the office space to be built. It's now estimated at costing at least $6.5 billion, once it's complete.

It occupies the parking garage that’s used for the existing tenants

Aren't they doing some revisions to the parking behind the old brick building? Maybe they needed to finish parking or something so Building 5 got pushed to phase 2?

Just found an old video on the steel structure for the mixer area

The old parkade is remaining, so its probably more a question of restricting access to the old parkade during construction of that tower and they need the new parkade to provide interim replacement parking.

Doesn't it seem from the 2022 application that the rooftop park extends pretty much to the edge of the strata office building?

https://council.vancouver.ca/20220301/documents/phea4applicantboards.pdf

And there was that seismic wall to stop it from leaning.

Even on this model, it looks like they've capped or greened the top level of the existing parkade.

FWIW it seems like they level it to at least the ground level in that old construction phasing video around 5:00
