Also, I think I agree, we should be building a signature tower on the Opus lot, not a park. Plenty of nearby green space, and honestly, the site is not going to be a very accessible for a park. Parking structures on two sides, and a service road on another, only one face of the park will have street/public frontage.

Exactly, this will only be used by the neighboring buildings, what a travesty.

Is it better than what is currently there? Yes.

Will it be utilized/enjoyed once built? Perhaps.

However, density and height are definitely preferred/needed in this space. We have enough greenspace, no?.

It's not necessarily true that only one face of the park will have street frontage. The Art Walk, as originally planned, was supposed to extend from where it currently ends at 14th Street to 15th Street and the Woodruff Arts Center. The "how" was going to depend on what was ultimately developed in the lot in question.

With a park now in the works, I think it's far more likely that the owners of the private property (Promenade building) will be willing to incorporate some kind of easement or access from the new park to 15th Street. I think this has great potential to be another arts focused attraction/amenity for Midtown.

No doubt the city will try to work with the neighbors to have more access and hopefully integration with 1180 and Promenade. I'm just not confident the neighbors will be very willing to open their campus' up to a public park. Hope I am wrong.

It's the kind of thing that can be amazing if well-executed, or very mediocre if poorly-executed. Having access via some other means than just 14th street seems key to this being well-executed.

Edgewood was trending downward in the late 2010s but the pandemic ended its momentum. There's just too many bums and too much thuggery for anyone to risk sinking too much money into it.

There used to be a stair connecting the Promenade with this lot so that you could cut through from 14th to 15th. It was removed in 2018 when they dug out the pit.

I agree. This is much better and has a chance to complement Centennial Yards. Hopefully it won't be the typical Fuqua schlock.

- Star Metals Hotel
- 981 Howell Mill
- 965 Howell Mill
- Teachers Village
- 360 Peachtree (Church Development)
- Hub Cypress Student Housing

I see the student housing proposal next to the Varsity has filed permits. That's a good sign.

Teachers Village is in permitting. It's taking between 18 and 24 months for big projects.

15 St extension. Looks like pedestrian/VRUs are getting some respect before it is built. It looks to only be 2 lanes so is it going to be only oneway (kinda makes sense).

Thanks for the 15th Street pics. It's really coming along.

It will be three lanes between West Peachtree and Spring (one lane in each direction and a dedicated left turn lane), and two lanes between Spring and Williams.

I believe the whole thing is going to be two-way. Both directions are quite important: the Eastbound direction will let people go to the High Museum/Ansley Park/Colony Square areas without using 14th Street, which is insanely congested.

16th Street will still be used for West Peachtree Street north mainly.

I'm kind of worried that the stop sign at 15th street will need to be upgraded to a stop light with all the additional traffic this will create. A lot of people run the stop sign as it is, since it's often hidden behind buses and such.
