Another downtown project I forgot to mention that is now under construction is the Riverside Park skating rink. Large part of the park will be closed all summer. https://www.radionl.com/2025/03/10/work-begins-on-riverside-park-skating-rink/

I Don’t understand why TRU wants a bridge but yet they question why the City of Kamloops doesn’t agree on their placement which is in the most random location, I’m sure we all don’t think it makes sense either. Currently it’s very unsafe with the people who J-walk and I’m surprised that they held it off this long, does someone have to get hit for appropriate action to be made? Come on TRU…

Apparently there is now an agreement on location now. So were just waiting for ground breaking I guess.

I noticed some scaffolding up at the BCLC headquarters along with a fenced off site with construction signs directly adjacent, haven't heard anything about it though.

Shame, wasn't there supposed to be an expansion many years ago that never materialized?

There sure was. 8 storey office building in the dirt parking lot on Lansdowne street. I saw the plans a couple months before they were supposed to break ground. But then the anti-interior ndp got elected and they nixed the whole thing the first week in office. The building and site were shovel ready. The cool thing about that plan was the city was planning on buying the current BCLC building and amalgamating development, engineering, city hall all under 1 roof.

Wow, but not surprising from the NDP. I wonder if they're still sitting on that property, the least they could do is sell the sites/plans so it can be built on.

Yes, that lot is still owned by the provincial government. I could see it coming back one day since the current building is busting at the seems. The existing BCLC building would have made a great new city hall too. It was a great plan. Hopefully it materializes one day.

Clean up of the Red bridge is complete and now in the planning stage. A new bridge is in the planning stage. Very surprised to hear this. I thought this was going to be years. Good to hear it's moving forward so fast. Hopefully they tie into Seymour street with the new bridge, and leave Lorne street to be quieter.

We had a similar problem happen on a project here in Victoria back in 2007 with thankfully, the same result that everyone was fine:

Didn't even know that was under construction already. Have they connected the road through to Aberdeen yet?

It's been a couple weeks since I walked through the site but not yet, it's pushed pretty far up and then where it stops has a bunch of trees cleared so far with a good bit more to go.

Wow. Hard to imagine they have room for one more building let alone two and parking. Doesn’t the property start dropping off past the current parking facility?
