I was wondering whatever happened to the proposal across the street. I guess it's still going forward.

Not my favourite proposal (way too much surface parking). I have heard nothing, but, there is no reason to expect this will not proceed at some point.

A hotel in Riverview? Seems its feasible

https://www.townofriverview.ca/sites/default/files/2025-02/Hotel%20Study%20Executive%20Summary.pdf

I wonder where it would be best located? East, West? Where the Kent store used to be?

This is very well timed and interesting. The gray group that bought the old Riverview mall, is run by Doug Doucet who is behind the chain of Microtel that have been built, one in Summerside and the other Antigonish. There had been conversations that they were looking at more, similar brands or at least connected to the Wyndham name. They could be a developer that would build one in Riverview.

Corey Craig could also be a possibility. They currently have Hyatt & Holiday Inn brands and they own land in Riverview.

The large parcel of land on the north west corner of Cleveland and Gunningsville recently sold in January for $1.5M Keep an eye on this one. Nobody pays that much without having a plan for the property.

You mean north east?

I'm sure he means northwest. Both the northeast and northwest corners are now sold.

The northeast corner will become that 4x4 storey apartment complex with 240 units noted on the previous page.

The northwest corner is still a mystery.

As for a hotel in Riverview, I would think the most logical location would be somewhere in the east end of the town, most likely on Hillsborough Road to take advantage of passing tourist traffic on the way to the Hopewell Rocks and Fundy Park.

Nowhere else in town makes much sense. Riverview has lots of services, but, is in no way really a tourism destination in it's own right.

But, there is a second possibility to consider. If Bridgedale Blvd get's extended to Hillsborough Road at the town boundary, and becomes a part of a bypass around the town, and, if the new recreational complex being built on Bridgedale next to the Mill Creek Nature Park gets expanded to include a double ice surface, then a hotel up there would make some sense as passing tourist traffic would still exist, and, with winter hockey tournaments, it could use that activity as a business generator too.

The reason for my post is that the SNB property site shows the NE lot being sold for $1.5 Mil. in January.

It's amazing the amount of construction going on in this part of Riverview. Maybe that NW corner will involve a mixed use development with a retail component. There will be plenty of customers around once all these buildings come on-line!

Speculation only but the town is actively pursuing commercial growth along Gunningsville Blvd. Just recently, a few parcels have been sold.

A hotel would be less than a 5 minute drive from downtown Moncton.

A commercial strip along Gunningsville/Bridgedale near the roundabout could be attractive, but probably requires completion of the Riverview recreational complex, and the extension of Bridgedale to Hillsborough Road first.

There is a lot of new residential construction going on in the general neighbourhood.

I was thinking about the hotel idea for Riverview. East of the bridge would make sense because it would be "on the way" to The Rocks, Fundy Park etc.

Could Corey Craig rework their Hillsborough Rd. plans for the Shell/Tim's project to include a hotel? Or is there enough land to stick with their current plans and add a hotel later.

The reason this occurred to me is because they have this exact business cluster on Dieppe Blvd. Maybe they could replicate it in Riverview in some form.

The second building in the ICON complex on White Pine is now up to four storeys. It will likely be topped off in a couple of months. I wonder if they intend to start on the third building this year as well.

That's a good question. I know that this development has buildings 1 & 2 earmarked as phase one. I think it gives them flexibility concerning the 3rd building. Once the first two are completed, they could then focus all of their efforts on the Infinity project and come back to complete phase 2 later.

I see that on-line it states that ICON has a new web site launching next month. Hopefully it will be a good source of information.

On another note, they're plowing ahead with the project that's across Pine Glen Road. It looks like it's 2 buildings, but I only recall seeing one building in the original proposal.

It is interesting there are still spare crane parts littering the ground of this construction site. I think this tower crane will come down once it is no longer needed for Building 2, and all the crane pieces will move over to the Infinity site in Moncton.

Good to know! I can think of one good reason to create a new website - the Infinity Tower!

Yes, there are a number of smaller construction sites around Riverview (and the entire CMA) which fly under the radar.

I think you're right about that. They started site prep on the 2nd building fairly quickly, but from what I can see they haven't done so for building #3. I think it's a good sign that we might see Infinity kick off this year.

If they stick with 30 floors and Ashford does 40, that'll be quite a skyline for Moncton in a few years time.

A job advert has appeared on line for a "part time pharmacy technician" for a No Frills in Riverview.

Is this an indication that No Frills is indeed coming to the town? At present, the only viable location for a store would appear ro be the old Kent store. Riverview Mall is not an option since it is slated for redevelopment.

Unfortunately it's for the Atlantic Superstore location at 429 Coverdale Rd, not for a No Frills.
