But it remains a fact that a careful observer will find multiple "copies" of the same building, from various eras, in various parts of the city.

Sure, they can be sovietesque en masse, but that's not what I'm referring to.

If we can have multiple copies of that same 1910s/20s era brick triplex (you know the one), 1950s three-up yellow-brick apartment building (you know the one), 1940s veterans "cottage" home (you know the one), there's no particular reason to not see much the same thing happening with larger multi-residential projects.

And if it keeps design, and hence project costs down, good!

Updated Project (Dec 2024)

So, just when you thought that this project couldn't get any more soulless, they quietly went and did exactly that. Goodbye glass curtain-wall. And they dropped a floor to boot (from 26 to 25) . They did, however, make the public park on the corner more interesting.

It's rental housing. I get it. I'm sure the 4% saved on the entire build will be reflected in the rents. This building will match every other sack of junk along Montreal rd. Don't endlessly jerk around over it.

Love the single floor drop. Makes perfect sense.

I find rental gets built nicer than strata. With rental they have to keep attracting people. With strata they just have to sell it initially

It ain't pretty, but it adds retail to the corner of some green space. If the City can rebuild Blair and Montreal, it will have easy bike access to the O-Train.

The second set of tower renderings are obviously nicer but I would take that red podium over the white one.

Nice to see something that isn't Sketchup. Really bugs me when they submit renders with that program.

No one uses those Sketchup looking renderings more than RLA. I agree, second set of renderings with red podium would be best.

This one is above grade. One or two floors complete. As of yesterday, it had colourful tarps around the structure, like the Breaking Bad exterminator tents.
