I didn't know Nutana Cafe was empty!

There is a pizza place on main floor of Baydo Apartments and also one across from Prairie Sun (and of course. Una). That seems like a lot of pizza options in a pretty condensed area....??? But I am always happy for more pizza and beer opportunities!!

Unfortunate to hear but, as I recall, I don't think this is the first time down the bankruptcy path for HBC. Somehow they seem to keep finding a buyer that guides their way out of it. Hope they can pull it off again.

The corner of 33rd and Idylwyld that housed Manchester's, among other things is now vacant and I heard a rumor that a shopper's drug mart will eventually take its place. Not sure, where the riff raff will move to, but should help the area a little.

Zak’s Home Hardware opening new store at Peavey Mart site

By Jon Perez
SaskToday.ca
May 9, 2025

SASKATOON — Locally owned Zak’s Home Hardware is set to open a second location in Saskatoon, this time at the former Peavey Mart store on 51st Street. The Saskatchewan-based family business has served the province for nearly four decades.

Zak’s Building Group marketing manager Majken Cooke told SaskToday that the Zak’s Group of Companies, owned by the Zacharias family since 1986, is continuing to expand its provincial presence.

“The opportunity arose, the history of Peavey Mart’s sales success in that location, and the expansion of our brand presence from a single store on Central Avenue. Zak’s continues to grow while maintaining its commitment to local values and personalized service,” said Cooke.

That is great news. Thanks for sharing. That is a superb location for a coffeehouse, imo. Looks like this will be their first location outside of the Edmonton area.
