Channel 11 always has good views of this tower, since it’s nearby headquarters (Daily News Bldg)

Fritz Lang would have loved that shot of the Metropolis.

Everyone dismissed the prospect that water will flow down these walls, but how will the plants be watered? It makes sense for water to trickle down and collect on the pools below.

I'm pretty sure there's some water feature. At some point, a guy working on the project mentioned it on NY YIMBY forums.

NY Guy posted a schematic long ago of the pools at the base of each wall. I’ve always suspected that water would flow down those walls and into the pools. How else will the moss and plants get watered? I suspect that there will be a light trickle, like at 550 Madison.

There are water features. The project is still under construction.

I always appreciate your photos and the context they provide - #28 is a really great shot. Thank you for the added bit of artistry.

Is that cultured or real stone going up on the walls for the water feature?

It’s real. Everyone suspects that there will not be any water flowing down those stone walls. I think that there will be. It makes sense that it will flow into the pools at the base of each stone wall. Also, as noted, there does not appear to be any other way for the vegetation on the rock walls to be watered.

There has been 0 evidence to suggest this as there was no plumbing installed before the rocks were installed and the fascia and soffit above them has already been installed., this will not be a water wall. Plants don't need to be watered all the time, sometimes they are watered purely from moisture in the air, and since no plumbing was installed, it's clear that plants that dont need as extensive watering will be planted/attached to the wall.

The only plumbing that was installed was for the sill drains at the edge of the building before its slopes back at the base, this collects in the center and goes back inide the building, it did not extend out for the side walls.

Your reasoning that just because there are pools at the base equates to the walls above them needing to be waterwalls doesnt make sense, yet you just keep saying that without any other reasoning.

There are also very large openings behind some of the stones, the wall is not continously enclosed, water would have no way to flow properly infront of the wall.

It's usually brighter when they start, they'll get it just right.

Who can resists this beauty?

Meanwhile, ignore the stadium concept below, and look at 270 on the skyline...

There is no place like NY. If Lodka or Alex drove over the 59th St bridge today, they’d be shocked by the view.

Its the worlds most exciting city and aesthetics king. NYC and Tokyo... one is sheer "hot damn" and the other is like entering a city galaxy. Both the peak and gold standard of the human urban experiment.

I think a boom is in the works. Between the Manhattan Plan, the ease of red tape and further easing down the line... good things can happen. Plus NJ helping the demand.
