Parking at the Frost Bank Center is horrendous. There is nothing in the neighborhood for visitors... only local residents' houses and a few small local shops. San Antonio absolutely needs a new arena downtown.

Exactly the reasons given for building DT when the arena went for a vote, but our cowardly city leaders punted to the County.

Seems like they're doing it again.

BTW: parking ain't half bad, it is getting in and out of the area that sucks.

Painters tarps have been put up all around the patio of the ITC and the entire front side where the parking lot and flags were has been dug up and filled with dirt (the Final Four baby!!!). The tarps are probably related to asbestos removal but I imagine some kinda advertisement banner will be put up to cover the building during the events.

Let me help you out. The reasons given for not building in the FBC's current location were what Jack was lamenting in his post.

It was true then, as now, but the city cowered, and Krier and Wolff had to carry the water. Understand now??? The arena likely would have been built DT, if our city leaders, then as now, were not cowards.

It's important to mention that nothing about Project Marvel will be on the May ballot this year, but a February poll with a sample size of 638 likely voters with a margin of error at 3.8 percent showed that approximately 41 percent of voters should move forward with the plan while 36 percent objected, 20 percent were unsure and 3 percent had no opinion. Beyond that is the Missions ballpark: 41 percent in favor, 35 percent opposed and 20 percent who were unfamiliar with the plans.

Al Gore did not become president by a matter of 537 votes in Florida. The idea that anything in politics is a guarantee needs to be put to bed already, cause if 2016 didn't prove it than 2024 really should have. Nothing is a guarantee.

If it's a public vote, it's a political vote. Even more so if a single politician says a single thing about the issue. And I think it's pretty apparent that the comparison makes the point that a vote can be very close.

Why do you keep editing my replies mentioning the idea that Austin could get the Spurs? Can you grow up? That's not your place to do such a thing because you personally dislike it, or as you told me in private the first time I asked you why you edited my comment "to avoid spiraling the discussion into something else". What difference does it make? San Antonio is not at war with the City of Austin. It's an open discussion, and if push really came to shove I'd rather take a Greyhound and see that team in that city then never go to Vegas and see them.

Also remember the fact the Spurs started off...as the Dallas Chaparrals. Do you think the people of Dallas still hold a grudge against San Antonio for "stealing their team"?

I quoted Runner's statement about the Spurs maybe going to Vegas with "or going to Austin" and sirkingwilliam removed that comment. Not the first time they did that with respect to a team moving to our wonderful weird capital city.

No. Words have meanings and those meanings matter. A public vote on funding for a multiuse arena is not political in any way. Politics play no bearing in this vote. It’s a civic vote and yes, there is a descending side who don’t want to fund a new arena but that side is a minority, and my point has always been this will pass with ease and any news article tying to drum up contention is only doing so for clicks.

I hope you're right in that it will pass. You're definitely right in that "words have meaning and those meanings matter" which only stresses that if a politician gets involved in any way it becomes political. That's not even a question. Anyway, if you want to have the last word, go ahead. My statement stands as is. I'll move on to the next subject.
