You guys are smoking something if you think any governor would get involved in a local zoning battle. It has never happened in Arizona to my knowledge.

I can see why she wouldn't get involved in a local zoning battle, but I wonder why this is being reduced to Scottsdale vs. relocation to another state. Whether or not the governor is personally involved, it seems like there should be a regional effort to keep the company in the Phoenix Metro Area if the proposed Scottsdale site doesn't work out.

If this company is threatening to move their company out of state...and that move would have a severe economic impact on the state/ region - and the governor...and/or state legislators...other officials deem it vitally important - they could make a "fuss" in the press...apply some pressure...entice with financial incentives to keep them here. I have only known about this - from reading about it here. However, I see that there is some special ballot measure coming up. When a company that employees thousands of people - high paying jobs, etc., pull up stakes and move out of state - it not only affects the tax base ...but, it is a domino effect. Local retail lose revenue ...dry cleaners... restaurants, etc. It has happened more than once in the region where I used to work and live in California. So, instead of hustling and being aggressive to attract and retain businesses - that produce JOBS for people to WORK (!!!!!) you have stupid local officials blowing it off...and you have loss of tax revenue and then unemployment - Those d#@&*ts - just increase the welfare rolls and raise taxes!!! Then crime...then ghettos - BAD! It's a mentality!

I don't know the entire scenario in this particular case...however, I went down to Scottsdale this weekend (man, that 101 north - and heading west - at 3:00 Friday - was like the 405!! So much for not becoming another L.A.!)...when I drove past this location at Hayden adjacent to the 101. There was a large (office) building being built with copper sheathing - copper colored windows (interesting look)...a lot of construction vehicles...dirt that had been moved. (Axon?) signage. The only residential neighborhood I saw (I'm driving 60 miles an hour) was much farther south - not very big - maybe, single family homes - built in (possibly) the 1990's. However nearly completely surrounded by big apartment complexes (that would concern me more than a corporate office building)...other commercial buildings.

So, who is up in arms about this particular construction? It seems to fit in with what is already there - next to a freeway ...not anywhere near a single family residential neighborhood. ??

The legislature has become involved in the Axon shenanigans via proposed Senate Bill 1352. I'm wondering if Axon lobbied for it. Of course the developer lobby in general would be in favor too.

That a group of NIMBY's in north Scottsdale are going to drive AXON to move its HQ to Texas which would be a shame and the state should do what it can to prevent this.

However our current governor is checked out and is not doing anything besides padding her resume with DNC bonafides so she can run for a different office when she loses in 2026 so other players like City of Phoenix or MAG will need to do something to prevent AXON from leaving.

Why doesn't Axon work with the Grand at Papago Park Center developer? The project seems to have stalled with the office downturn. Big land area centrally located on the highway system and close to ASU for recruiting tech talent. Or work with the Novus Innovation Corridor team?

Believe it or not a lot of companies want the cache of a Scottsdale address.

Seems like the new Scottsdale Mayor is trying to squash this.
