Residents were notified that indeed a Food Basics will be going in. Confirmed by a friend who is a resident there. No ETA.

He owns a condo, so most likely that's why. Doesn't matter though, because all residents in the neighbourhood will benefit.

The Pinnacle? building down the street isn't half bad either, blank wall on Laurier aside. I remember when they were digging that pit back in 2003/4 ish. Shortly after they built 570 Laurier and around the same time Metropole went up. Less cranes in the air around that timeframe but some reasonable looking projects.

The hole for Pinnacle was ridiculous. My buddy lived kitty corner and we had access to the roof and you could see it went down maybe 7 or 8 levels but the floor plate was tiny.

Def an improvement. Saw the LEDs were on the other day, looks pretty cool but kind of sticks out in an otherwise dark skyline.

I initially thought the same thing but then I realized we're probably just not used to prominent light features here in Ottawa. I was in Calgary two weeks ago and they have more downtown buildings with LED features, but each one appears just as prominent as Moon's in the context of its immediate surroundings. On the topic of Calgary, their skyline is quite impressive from a distance but once you get into downtown it's shocking how many empty lots still remain - tons of surface parking. We're pretty lucky here in Ottawa to have a dense downtown, and Moon (as well as neighbouring Releve) are great examples of what an improvement can be made over five years.

Agreed. Pinnacle was the "pinnacle" of Claridge design. Hoping the Apple Tree and parking around it will be redeveloped with another Releve quality and height project. Maybe even push to 38-40 floors.

Never been to Calgary, but absolutely, it's nice to see how nearly complete Downtown Ottawa is, at least in terms of developed lots. Very little surface parking, especially now with these two blocks built up. All that's left is the Apple Tree, the Ottawa Tech gym parking and the PdV surface parking. The rest is small potatoes.
