Isn't Hollyburn a notorious local RE investor that's often in the paper for renovictions and poor treatment of tenants?

I agree rent control is the main issue.

Other names that instantly come to mind are the Sahotas and Plan A, though I suppose I'm ready for people to say that they're actually foreign (check the skin colour, it's obvious!)

Yeah I left the Sahotas out because they don't do as much market rental IIRC.

Hell look at the owners of that building that burned down in Mt Pleasant. Local slumlords extraordinaire. Some of these people literally belong in jail.

Unfortunately Larco seems to be sliding down that road.

'It's inhumane': Freezing Kerrisdale tenants frustrated with city, landlord over problem building

Faulty boiler, lack of repairs among long-standing problems plaguing two Vancouver apartment buildings owned by Larco Investments

Bhavna Solecki has been wearing two pairs of socks, leg-warmers and a heavy sweater inside her home during the recent unseasonably chilly weather.

Her neighbours, most of whom are seniors, have been forced to bundle up inside their own apartments, she says.

Solecki has an auto-immune disorder that causes serious pain in her joints when the weather is cold, and had trouble getting out of bed Monday morning, she said, after weeks of the building’s heating system not working properly...

Residents dealing with air quality issues at West Vancouver apartment building
By Kier Junos

Residents of Park Royal Towers, an apartment building in West Vancouver, say they are concerned about the air quality in their home.

The building is owned by Larco Investments, the same company that owns Regency Park in Vancouver’s West End — another building that has faced similar issues.

One renter in his 70s, who did not want to be identified in fear of retaliation, says he has asthma that has gotten worse due to poor air circulation in his home.

“I see it, every day, get worse and worse. I went to the doctor too many times for this matter,” he said.

“They gave me three different kinds of puffers, which is not helping me a lot, but I feel a little more comfortable.”

He says the biggest issues are in the kitchen and bathroom, starting with the fans.

The resident showed CityNews what appears to be a range hood above the stove. However, instead of a vent above the stove taking air out, there is only a storage cabinet....

....CityNews reached out to Larco Investments and the District of West Vancouver for comment.
