Is it something to do with the stability of the soil in Kelowna, or maybe inexperienced shoring contractors? Here in Calgary, most towers are in the flood plain with very unstable geology and underground rivers, and we rarely deal with sinkholes and shifting buildings in the area of the excavation (though it does happen).

Every attempt at below water table parking in Kelowna has been problematic at minimum (SoPa Square, City Hall parkade), disastrous in this case. I hope UBC Properties Trust or whoever is funding/managing this makes good with Hadgraft Wilson Place ASAP.

A little bit of A and a little bit of B, I think.

The alluvial till in downtown Kelowna is extremely unstable, and it's the reason why Kelowna has to build floating bridges. Lots of sand and silt.

The tech is there to build large areas underground, but clearly, there are issues when it comes to managing and executing these digs.

Says it is still in design with submission to the city this spring. Based on that rendering can anybody work out where that is supposed to be?

I like it! That’s a good looking project. While I love that Kelowna is getting some tall towers it’s nice to have some mid roses filling in the city too.

Betsy is a beauty! The no parkade podium, or at least hiding it, not sure what they're doing on this one, but it really makes a difference.

Crazy how the Old Ferry Wharf area is getting filled in even though its an obvious west side landing spot for a second bridge. Terrible planning and foresight!

I have no idea, that rendering looks nothing like Kelowna. Unless that's a really poor depiction of Black Mountain on the left side.

That's such a weird location for towers but I guess it is better than where Water Street by the Park is.

Downtown Kelowna seems to be expanding north, so not too surprising. Is there a plan for all the industrial land right to the north end of downtown? Thinking of the area between Ellis and Guy.

Some of that area is part of the Mill Site redevelopment (which hasn't gone to council yet) and some of the area is part of the North End plan. In the link below is what was endorsed by council in October.
