Brock Developments has now got the roof on their 4s building in south Lucan installed. Window units are now up to the 3rd floor level.

Sadly zoning approvals today for units that may be 10-15 years away from construction is not particularly useful metric. Far more interesting is the number of building permits issued as that is the last step a municipality is involved with outside of inspections of construction stages.

Still good to see prospective zoning proposal applications as an indicator of possible new construction in the future.

In case anyone is curious, the new building going up right at the corner of Wharncliffe and Base Line will be a Burger King.

It will probably do good with people driving south who are tired of the left in left out of McDonald's on that road.

There was a Burger King not far away maybe a decade or so ago? The building is still there and the drive thru is present

Guess it just made more sense to build a new location? I guess being at the intersection should be better, and that's a pretty decent bus transfer area too. Will be easier to get to than McDerps.

Personally not big on 'Burger thing'. Maybe the Big King but haven't had it in ages.

Looks like they have now poured the foundation walls for the new building just north of the TD bank near the intersection of Richmond and Fanshawe. An earlier post suggested this was going to be a Chic-Fil-A restaurant.

yeah, I also remember a Burger Thing in that vicinity. It had closed. There was also a Dairy Queen that burned down. https://globalnews.ca/news/8965150/south-london-ont-dairy-queen-fire/

There was also a Wendy's too.

Crazy to think all those fast food/drive thru places existed and no centre turn lane on Wharncliffe- if you think it's bad now, it was actually worse in the past.
-I think they did retrofit a left turn lane for the Harvey's further north however.

The A&W replaced the taco bell.

A Timmies in the SE Wharncliffe and Base Line Plaza where the No Frills is moved south of Commissioners so it could have a drive thru.

The Wendy's was north, near Harveys on the other side of the road. It was replaced by the one at Wonderland and Southdale years ago, kind of surprising they left that large a gap in locations. Meanwhile, McDonalds has 3 along Wharncliffe now.

Wendy's, Osmow's Shawarma, Firehouse Subs, a dentist, and a fitness centre

Last time I checked a few months ago, it just had Wendy's on it. Now the question is when they will start construction.
Various permits have been filed within the last week for this commercial plaza including a site-servicing permit, as well as some sign permits for Wendy's.

Anyone know if there is any talk about what's going to happen with the former Call the Office building at 216 York? It will be coming up to 5 years this year that the hub closed and since then, the building has just been sitting there abandoned and rotting away. With being right next to the Via rail station it could be prime real estate for a hotel.

Your right that corner is a prime future development site. Ideally someone could do a land assembly to acquire the car detailing shop the parking lot and a couple of the buildings just north along Clarence St and build a large future project. That would be great news but not likely anytime in the near future.

this sale was from Nov 2020

216 York Street
type Commercial building
price $1,040,000
seller 2736716 Ontario Inc.
buyer TKFV Holdings Ltd.

A building permit was issued to convert the old RONA near Wonderland and Oxford to a "JH Supermarket" .... nothing comes up when I search it on Google so I have no clue who they are, or what kind of supermarket it will be.

Though, the existing building does seem huge for a supermarket, so I'm not sure if the building will maybe be partitioned into other units, but usually those details would appear on the building permit.

There was a rumor floating around somewhere (can't remember where) that possibly a big developer was interested in purchasing the property to build high-rises... so I guess that will not be happening, at least at this time.

I commented on that in the Economy thread back in early January in this thread https://skyscraperpage.com/forum/showpost.php?p=10345963&postcount=1047 that I had delivered some supplies there. I do recall when I googled the guy's name that JH Supermarkets was what came back. Wish I still remembered his name. I haven't had anything to go in there since that day so I haven't heard anything new, but it's good to see something being applied for at the city.
