This part of a broader transfer of multiple parcels from one Irving company to another around the province. The transfer from a numbered company to Irving Oil includes 157 Champlain in Dieppe and parcels around the refinery in Saint John which I think is why the value is so high.

As per Town regular meeting on Nov 4, during Inquiries by members of Council period one member of Council ask the question if the building was almost finished. The question was answer by town economic director and reply he recently spoken to one of owners of the building was informed tenants would start moving in December also the town received application for permit of restaurants to complete interior and believe work would done during winter.

Excellent news. In addition to St. Louis Bar & Grill, other tenants were to include Halo Donuts, Lost & Found Ice Cream, Vibe Juicery and a coffee shop of some form. A big addition to downtown Shediac.

Shediac priorities for 2025:

From an article in the T&T today about the recent approval of the Town of Shediac 2025 municipal budget:

The town said 2025 will include several infrastructure projects, including a new trunk sewer line and improvement of several streets. Phase 2 of the Breaux Bridge Street extension project is scheduled to begin in the coming year, extending the town’s new main artery to Ohio Road. Breaux Bridge Street will end up between the Kent building supplies store and the Shediac RCMP detachment. Infrastructure work will also be carried out on Calder Street.

“The new trunk sewer line project will give our municipality new options for new developments near Ohio Road and Highway 15,” Caissie said. The extension of Breaux Bridge Street, a project that has been on the drawing board for over 50 years, is intended to give residents easier access from Ohio Road.

The town says a new fire station is scheduled for 2025. That is a $10 million project in development for several years.

In essence the expenditures are all directed towards improving cross town connectivity to Ohio Road, and to improve municipal infrastructure in this portion of the town too.

Big things are coming to this end of town.

- this will likely be where the new community sports and recreation centre will be built
- in all likelihood, this is where the new k-12 anglophone school will be built.
- Ohio Road will become a major commercial street. I have on authority that there are more than one major retailers thinking about establishing in this part of town. I can't say more than that. Stay tuned!

Brunswick News has learned the public utility has quietly selected an unnamed firm to build the 400-megawatt plant in Scoudouc, about 20 kilometres northeast of Moncton, and have it running by 2028. The two sides will sign a power purchase agreement, allowing NB Power to escape borrowing big money upfront to build the plant. It already has $5 billion in debt and is under pressure to pay some of it off.

René Legacy, the new deputy premier and energy minister, confirmed the details of the plan in an interview. It would be the biggest power project in the province since the Point Lepreau Nuclear Generating Station was refurbished a little over a decade ago.

“It’s a peaking facility, so it’s for those really cold days,” the Bathurst politician said on Wednesday. “Hopefully, what it will do is reduce our greenhouse emissions because we may rely a lot less on Coleson Cove and the heavy oil it burns.”

The land for the power plant in the Scoudouc industrial park is already provincially owned and near the Maritimes and Northeast Pipeline that supplies natural gas, in an area where the population has boomed and there’s a huge thirst for more electricity.

Legacy said another advantage is the technology can be converted to biofuels or green hydrogen whenever those become available.

Wow - this certainly came out of left field! This will be a huge project!

The big reason for putting this in Scoudouc is the LNG pipeline that runs through the area.

Halo Donuts will be opening their third location (in Shediac) on January 8th!



Latest word is that St. Louis Bar and Grill may open later in the springtime. No word yet on other proposed tenants of this building. The building is now safe for occupancy after repairs necessitated by the negligent engineer. Hopefully the other proposed tenants will be back on board later this year as well.

Audacity (Bell Authorized Dealer) in Shediac has permanently closed. I know someone personally who worked there. I guess the entire company is going out of business. The website is no more as well. Sucks for Bell customers who live in Shediac and surrounding areas, but at least Dieppe/Moncton isn’t too far away.

I watched the District Education council meeting from last week and the Superintendent stated that an announcement about the location of the Shediac Cape school is expected before the end of the month once the purchase agreement closes. This is exciting news and maybe now we can see some forward momentum on this long overdue project.

There is a post on the window of the unit now announcing Lost & Found Ice Cream. Interior fit-up appears to be underway.

This is an interesting assemblage of personages.

If the announcement is for the new anglophone K-12 school, why would Dominic LeBlanc be there? Education is an entirely provincial responsibility. There is no need for the local federal MP to show up.

On the other hand, Dominic might be there if the announcement was concerning the proposed new Shediac recreational centre. Such a facility often would have a significant federal funding commitment. But, if this were the case, why would Claire Johnson be there? She's a provincial MLA for Moncton, not Shediac.

She is however the provincial minister of education.

Hmmmm........

Could it be that there will be concurrent announcements for both the recreational complex and the new school? Could the reason why the announcements are being made at the same time be because they will be co-located on the same site?

The announcement is for support for healthy meals for kids and is taking place at MFB in Shediac. If it was an announcement for the school I guarantee Randolph MacLean would be there
