Vous avez probablement raison.

C'est drôle, mais à Gatineau en revanche je crois que le tramway a plus de chances de se réaliser que le "sixième" lien (pont) entre Gatineau et Ottawa.

Looks like Brampton is finally getting its tunnelled extension of the Hurontario light rail line into the city centre.

...and Doug Ford is calling a snap election. Maybe we get a couple more good transit announcements next week.

Which is stupid because the reason Brampton council chose not to fund it into Brampton City Centre in the first place is that this part of the route has such low demand. So you have a project with too little demand to justify a surface LRT extension that will now be tunneled at 10x the cost. Yet people voted for this man. TWICE.

The man never met a tunnel he didn't want to waste money on.

No, it has decent demand. It's connecting to a GO station and one of Brampton's primary bus terminals.

The line was cut because Brampton voted against the original surface line plan for NIMBY reasons.

The trip generators are definitely there, its just Brampton didn't want to disturb the peaceful country lane aesthetic of Hurontario St just south of the CBD. So in the end they will get the tunnel they wanted but probably don't need. It'll be a well-used line though.

Transit and associated T.O.C. warehousing fails in this country as too much emphasis is put on justifying expenditure. The justification for a tunnel should be on providing or improving fast, reliable service over how many people it will serve. A tunnel is better than a surface ROW on Hurontario. It could be functional 150 years from now when the GTA population is in excess of 25 million.

The point is providing fast, reliable service... to people. As many people as possible, hence why ridership potential is important since there are countless routes that could be upgraded while funds are limited. In other words, it isn't about whether or not it's a good thing; it's about whether or not the funds could be used to upgraded any other route to improve service for more people.

But if they weren't being honest about that stretch having low ridership then it's good the route is being extended. But they'd have to have been very dishonest indeed for a tunnel to make sense.

Saskatoon's Link BRT is scheduled to begin service in 2028. The City of Saskatoon has released the design for College Drive adjacent the U of S campus, which will include centre-running transit lanes and platorms: https://www.saskatoon.ca/sites/default/f...oards%20Final%20Version%20Compressed.pdf

Those rapid bus stops will be cold in the winter in Saskatchewan!

Anyways, some real visible progress on the Expo Line (16km) extension to Langley in Metro Vancouver!

We finally actually have two urban rail projects U/C at the same time (for a total of 22km. 5km underground, 17km elevated).

Looking forward to seeing the Saskatoon BRT network implemented. Love to see ambitious, forward thinking infrastructure planning from our smaller cities.

SSP member Stainer does excellent videos on Skytrain construction. Here's his latest one on the Surrey/Langely extension.

Only to the uninitiated

Actually I believe some stations will be equipped with on-demand heaters.
