It looks like a prison with chintzy balconies. The execution screams of cost cutting. The village deserved a better design for such a high profile location. Better than a beer store? Sure, but that's a very low bar.

The main Zu building is quite nice on the south and west sides. The cheap balconies are the only real downside there. It’s the phase two smaller buildings that are hideous IMO.

Less crackheads I guess lol? Although moving so close to the shelters negate that. That building is begging for redevelopment anyways.

It's across the street from the Deer and Almond in the exchange so its not that close to any shelters.

Yes. I like the ones I've had. Their one beer Steampunk Queen is my current choice for "low-ish alcohol content (3.5%) that still has flavour".

They're pretty good. That strip is going to be absolutely bumping. Leos, a brewpub, Park Alleys, the Park Theatre and the new music venue there. Damn.

Would love to see the BMC Taco Shop better utilize their little patio space as well given how few street facing patios there are along the South Osborne strip. Would be awesome to be able to order tacos and coronas via a take out window or something. Could see something like that being an absolute money maker.

somebody drove their car into the Rooster storefront on Osborne this morning. No sign of robbery but lots of damage. Took down two of those decorative light poles as well.

my unpopular opinion: if you're involved in an at-fault accident over a certain dollar amount of damage, you should have to take and pass a road test before being allowed to drive again

I know SSP is on average cooler on cars than society at large, but is that actually unpopular with the wider public? I think you could get people behind that, especially if you reminded them that this helps keep insurance rates down.

Something like this was bound to happen sooner or later. Hopefully the damage is not too bad. The Adelaide Block is one of my favourite buildings in the city. Time for bollards along Osborne street from River to Stradbrook.

I'm no engineer, but unless that was a load-bearing window, the damage fortunately doesn't strike me as too bad as far as the building itself is concerned.

Agreed. I think I'll take some time this weekend to write Rollins about it. Though that does further narrow an already absurdly narrow sidewalk.
