-13C and mostly sunny in Moncton at 8 AM.

We had a surprising amount of snow fall overnight from the squall activity off the Bay of Fundy. Moncton rarely gets squalls from that direction. Usually squalls off the Bay of Fundy tend to affect the Annapolis Valley, the Cobequid Pass and the Truro area. We now have decent snow cover on the ground for the first time this winter.

I read before that at one point during the winter of 1971, all of the contiguous states simultaneously had a snow cover at one point. It probably was just the Florida panhandle as was the case here, but without any break northward up to the Canadian border. It would have been interesting to see this on a snow cover map.

Still brutally cold. But sunny. Monsteras are throwing out new leaves.

Other than a few subsequent dustings, we had all our snow before Christmas, which melted away shortly thereafter. Early this morning in Halifax we had a cm or so of snow, but again, just a dusting. Not complaining, though, as my back is happy that the shovel has collected some dust.

Unusually windy here for the last few days. ar was buffeted around on my drive to the office this morning. We are heading above 0 again this week and with the wind should lose a fair bit of snow. As is my yard has less snow than New Orleans now. says -1 today but we are already there. above freezing the next week which is well above normal.

Snow pack in Alberta is really low, Expect a long fire season this year.Unless we get a rainy spring.

Warmer than earlier in the week - but still cold at -8, going up to -5.

Long term is below average for the next two weeks. Winter is not letting up anytime soon.

7 day forecat:
-5/-4/-3/-1/-4/-2/-4

Flurries scattered throughout the week; lows around all -7.

It's been a wonderful winter so far on the east coast. Our largest one day snowfall so far has been 5.8cm lol. The little bit of snow we had on Wednesday is still on the ground since it's been so cold, but it wasn't enough to completely cover the grass.

Still nothing major in the 10-day forecast, though temperatures are looking to stay slightly below seasonal.

We're getting a full on winter here this year. My weather station got to a low of -21C a couple days ago. We had some fresh snow fall yesterday.

Today is sunny and beautiful.

Parts of Alaska have no snow yet.
Around here we are well below normal snow amounts.

-9C with a wind chill of -14 and sunny. Another cold day. This January is turning out to be a cold one. The relatively low snow cover is probably keeping us from record levels (like January 2022).

The low was -14C (wind chill of -22) this morning.

The warmspot was White Rock, BC at 10.1C.

Warmest low was Bonilla Island, BC at 6.2C.

Continuing dry, calm and chilly. After a couple of overcast days we’re now back to full on sun. Wall to wall blue skies today.
We’re also having a rather dry January. Hardly any rain for a couple of weeks now.

Friday's high at Vancouver Harbour was 6 C, the low was 0 C.

Still freezing. My laundry drainage is frozen solid and my first load of the day partially drained onto the floor. Managed a kludge. Doing a high-stakes final load with every towel as I ran out of them cleaning moments I missed from earlier loads

-13C (-23 windchill) in Moncton at 11 AM and sunny.

It will be another two hockey game day today. My grandson will be playing at noontime at the Greenfoot Energy Centre as his Moncton Hawks take on the visiting Riverview Blues (my eldest son is the coach of the Hawks).

Then at 7 PM, the Moncton Wildcats (winningest team in the CHL this year) take on the Rimouski Oceanic at the Avenir Centre. Rimouski will be the host of the Memorial Cup this year, and a likely opponent of the Cats in the league finals. There is a good chance both the Cats and the Oceanic will be in the Memorial Cup this year. This game should be a preview of the fun yet to come.

Go Cats Go!!!!

Mix of sun and cloud and -6 at 12pm. Had a light dusting of snow overnight, about another 3cm.

Should warm up a bit after today, with closer to seasonal temperatures.

Cloudy with some really light snow coming down.

Rice Lake. Looking like the Great White North, for sure.

My first time-lapse sunset, the exposure setting is a bit of a learning curve for me, I'm all over the place on that setting

This afternoon / evening, another glorious hallelujah sunset on the lower mainland.

-6C with a wind chill of -10 and a mix of sun and clouds.

Low of -20C (wind chill of -24) this morning. Completely unexpected. Conditions were idial for rapid cooling, clear sky and no wind. Of course it's because I jinxed it as well when I said the chance for -20C this year had passed.
It's the first -20C temperature in Montreal since February 2023. It's been almost 2 years.

The warmspots were Solander Island and Pitt Meadows, BC at 8.3C.

Warmest low was Bonilla Island, BC at 5.7C.

Out to Mount Pearl for brunch. More snow up there and windier but the sun is strong.
